They can not say that. In the settlement nothing mentions mods so they can't try it now.

Called my local dealer 2-3 weeks ago and they knew about the gas tank issue so he ordered a gas tank without me even going in. Called me this morning saying they had it in and I dropped off the car this afternoon and gave me a brand new GLK loaner no questions asked.

Umm I wouldn't, when they pull the seat you can tell gas has been sitting there and why it smells inside the car. When I called my local dealer I even asked should I fill it up so you guys can smell it and they said no try to keep it low as possible. Which I did and I brought the car in today and left with a loaner with no issues.

Just bought my 04 (FL car) and drove it back to MI- no issues. Found it leakng fuel in the garage the next morning!

Local dealer had it for 3 days only to say "it's too old, we can't cover it".

2nd dealer said they were aware of the warranty extension and ordered a tank no questions asked. The dealers have had the car longer than I have!!

At least MB stepped up to the plate on this one...

Mine is on order as of last Tuesday (31st). I'm hoping mine gets in soon. I pretty tired of getting fumed out. I can't go past 1/2 tank now.

I dropped mine off on 2/10/15. Two days shy of eight weeks now. As of this morning, still no ETA on fuel tank build. I'm assuming they are revising their design, hence the delay?

I'm grateful for the loaner though and skipped a winters worth of abuse!

I want to say I am the only one that pulled in with gas fumes and left in the same car. Seems like everybody got a loaner...with the temps rising the tank is getting fumier (new word...)

My CLS63 has been getting the gas smell on and off alot... now I know why???Called my SA at Euro Motorcars in Germantown,MD he was gone for the day but sure I will get a call first thing in the morning. I have pulled both seats up and notice a hairline crack on the driver side sending unit with a hint of fuel sitting on top of the unit (took pics). I notice that the seat cushion really absorb a lot of the fumes!

Nice. But curious why would the car run stronger?

Last month, I took my car in for a pulley issue and the dealer said that my car was unsafe to drive and that the gas tank would have to be replaced. Three to 4 weeks for parts to come in from Germany. In 2013 I had mentioned gas smell problem to same dealer and they replaced the sending unit seal, this reduced smell in cabin but, not outside car. I reported this in the survey that comes after any service done at dealer, at the time. When I asked if I would be getting a credit for the seal, they had me go through customer service, after 3 calls explaining the logic of the credit and a chat with service manager they will reimburse me for the repair, which was $488. All Good.

It took 4 weeks to get my car back only to now have an airmactic front end issue 5 miles down the road, $3000. UGH!! Any one know if having a car sit for 4 weeks would cause this issue to suddenly appear? They did replace my engine mounts and fix some oil line issues while waiting for gas tank from Germany. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know They are fixing my gas tank which has a crack on the top hump. They might swap out the fuel sending units as well but I'm not totally sure if they diagnosed that was a problem also which that might be leaking too but I'm not sure. I made sure to fill up my tank before I went so they can smell the gas

- I went to Mercedes in Coral Gables, located in Miami FL
- Spoke to ALDO
- They gave me a Jetta as a rental which sucks but its fully paid by them
- My car is a 2004
- They are paying for everything

My Dealership just contacted me stating that my new tank, sending unit, and additional parts are now in. They diagnosed my tank/fuel smell issues months ago in January. It took them 3 months to receive the replacement parts since this issue seems to be in high demand to fix. They didn't keep my car though and in the meantime just told me not to fill it full, just to 3/4 max and it won't leak. That did help for a simple fix and going to drop it off soon when I return stateside.. Free of charge of course!!

Took mine in 2 days ago. Will need a complete tank. Service advisor called this morning said an estimate of 2-3 weeks for parts to come in from Germany. Gave me a GLK loaner for the time being.

I've had an open repair order on mine since Jan. Fuel tank has been here since Feb but no sending units available. Service MGR is friends with my Service MGR so i got a New C300 yesterday to drive. There hoping this will speed up my parts. 5 cars on waiting list here and only 1 has been completed.
My understanding from a buddy who is a tech at MB is they are gonna be building tank as a unit in Germany and shipping whole from now on. No more piecing together at dealer. Thats whats on backorder now.

2005 E55 Wagon
I stopped by my dealer the other day. I was going to hand him the letters and printouts from this thread. The SA said not needed. He punched some things in his computer, made a few calls and told me, since my car is an 05 wagon, he does not know if I need a whole new tank and pump or just pump. I am to bring it in next week for them to take a look at and decide. We will see how it goes.

I picked up my car from RBM Atlanta. New tank, filters, senders, etc. I'm not sure if its just me but the car itself runs A LOT better. It idles smoother, revs quicker, etc. I was going on 92,000 miles on the original pumps. The evap line broke, tank was cracked, and the senders were leaking. It still smells of gas inside due to the residue it left on the seats and rear bench foam seals but it's going away.

I dropped the car off Tuesday at noon and picked it up Friday at 9AM. Quick turnaround and they hooked me up with a badass C300 with the Sport package and "AMG" stuff. I was happy

Bring those printouts back in. Mercedes repair instructions explicitly say, if VMI for your car says 'tank', then you need brand new tank/sender/pump.
