Exclamation aerodynamics of the W211 - just in case you didn't know

the W211 cars were designed to be very slippery in the air, just for comparison to the new Corvette Stingray who everyone gushes about their Coefficient of Drag

http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam...ure_110513.pdf

2014 Corvette Stingray: Cd .29

The E55 AMG has a Cd of 0.28, with its extra body add-ons. The base W211 has a .27 Cd (FYI - LOWER is better!)

So - even though you may be thinking you're driving a land barge through the air, just remember - you have less drag than a STINGRAY

Road and track tested it at 12.5.

Car and driver 12.2

It's looks a lot faster than an e55.

A bunch of TT's
I was equally impressed with the under carriage on our land boats. Very FLAT and streamed lined, even the undertray plastics. Nothing sticks downwards, everything tucked up

The W124 from the 80s was .28 LOL.

And that was damn near a brick.

Great thread @Toadster.

Every now and then advertising says something to this effect about a car. Recently wasn't something said about the Hellcat or Charger version about a ultra fast sedan and it being the first? Ahhhhhhh what about the E55, E63 and M5's. They have been around for 10 years. So no Dodge was not the first. I think its a American thing. They develop something or bring to market something and immediately advertising is acting like its something that has never been done before.

The Stingray has crap showing all under it. Typical Plastic hanging down. Are they cool looking YES. Do they look like typical American cars (plastic parts everywhere) YES. Are they pretty darn fast for normal models YES. Should you be a 50 year old male (bleached blonde females work also) living in a ranch style house with more than 1 acre of land with a car port and a pickup in the driveway as a owner of one YES. Females think the same thing about those guys driving a Stingray as most of us do about guys driving a Lambo. Those two cars just have a stigma that they cannot shake. Similar to Camaro's and Mustangs. Maybe most cars do come to think of that. But not sure what stigma MB owners have. Audi drivers typically act like your not even there, BMW drivers are always in the outside lane, driving too close to the car in front of them and talking on their phones with a starbucks in their hand.

Best combination of the Stingray that I have seen was a Metallic grey with yellow calipers and the Saddle Interior. It definitely looked great.

They are probably talking about it being the 'fastest' sedan in the world meaning it can reach higher speeds than any other four door production car. Which is cool and everything, but in my eyes not all that impressive. (Top speed is for children;] )

I disagree in the fact that I like the C7. I think it looks great but aesthetics aside it's a nice platform! I think I'm different to most of the members on this forum because I HATE stock cars lol. I believe it's a sin to willingly leave any vehicle you own unmodified The deciding factor on what makes a car great for me is it's amount of tuning potential. I look at what the car CAN be capable of instead of what people are satisfied with driving off the showroom floor.

Albeit not as cool as the LS7, the LT4 is undoubtedly going to be a POWERHOUSE when people start messing with them more.

Drag coefficient is only half the issue. Drag area is what counts, which combines drag coefficient with frontal area.

No way to know which has less drag unless you know this.

yup - this is true - driving a brick through the air is much different than driving a slipstreamed shape, it's also why a lot of 1/2 mile and 1 mile racers cover their cars with copious amounts of tape to seal up cracks/crevices
