E63 rotor replacement - saved thousands
I replaced my E63 rotors at all 4 corners with 1 piece C63 rotors. I realise for the purists this is horrible, but this is my daily driver, not a track car. The difference in handling and braking, even in hard driving, is zero. It made no difference at all except better braking due to new components.
I did have to prep and paint the centre sections after installation when I realised that iron obviously corrodes. This escaped my attention at the time. The painting was very straightforward. I masked the calipers only, and used a razor blade and thinner to clean the rings of any overspray. The feedback I'm getting is positive.
I saved $4000 over factory parts, and $1500 over the cheapest aftermarket E63 parts.

Really? Didn't know that. I haven't owned the e55 very long. I thought they were 2 piece rotors due to the 8 piston caliper. Learn something new everyday. My SRT Charger has 2 piece rotors, I may be mixing them up in my brain....

Yup just good old 1 piece. Just be sure to get akebono pads to get rid of the brake dust problem!

AND I believe you may have SBC. If you change rotors and pads yourself, danger Will Robinson! My E63 doesn't have SBC, but I understand that you need to be cautious when you have the pads/rotors out if you haven't pulled the batter cable. Step on the pedal and out pops the pistons.
Should be able to find plenty of info here on it.

E63 does not have SBC.
OP, good for you. Was wondering when someone was going to do this. I have had exchanges on the forum exactly to this point. If you are not going to track it, use the one piece rotors.
Me getting to replace my front rotors very soon for the second time. Bought RB and just changing the iron rather than the whole thing save a lot as well. Will post when I do.

That's awesome !!!
My rotor are good to be changed very soon (34mm left for 33mm minimal thickness), would be good to get more details about the part you used ? part n° or year of the C63 parts you used.
Thanks !

those are the same as FCP Euro but without lifetime warranty. essentially OEM rotors as OEM is exactly the same other than the box stating Brembo vs Mercedes.

On the E55 you don't have to step on the brakes to activate open a door or anything and it activates. You must unhook both battery's or unplug Sbc. Too dangerous if you dont

Why are you trying to retrofit C Class brakes on a E Class ? Is it the ultimate goal to save money? My 07 E63 is going to need new brakes by next year, instead of spending $1156 per front rotor from the stealership, I found the correct set of two piece rotors on eBay for $798 Man, this was out freaking standing. I couldn't see putting E55 or C63 one piece rotors on my car.

for me, I have never had good luck with rotors that were not from the OEM, I have had many warp or get spots/wheel shake after a short period of time. I will only purchase OEM from now on even if they are direct suppliers - not all the castings and metal content are the same so you don't always get the best quality - I would hate to have a rotor crack braking hard at 130/140mph -- just my thoughts.
I certainly understand your situation, I bought my rotors from Parts Container, they are OEM rotors. And I save big $$$$ For an E63 the front rotors are the major expense item. The rears are the same as an E55, so pretty cheap. OEM Rotors and pads are the best way to go, but OEM Pads are dusty as hell, they use a high carbon content. After a few days your wheels are black with the dust. They are better pads that offer increase grip and less dust.
