How to install AMG non-illuminated door sill plates
Hi all,
I accidentally hit the AMG door sill plates with my foot when getting in the car and one side of it came off.
Does anybody know how to attach them back? These are original non-illuminated door sill plates.
Thanks in advance.

They just snap in. You'll need to buy some new clips since they break when you do that.
I did that within the first 3 minutes of owning my E63.
Edit: Are you talking about your E550? If so you're asking in the wrong section. I have no idea if your sill plates attach in the same way. This is the W211 AMG section.

Thanks Man,
No, I sold the E550, and got E63. So your advice is applicable.
I lifted the plate and saw white color clips attached to the body. Somehow the plate itself detached from 2 clips. One is in place and still holding it. Should I pull it up from one side to remove it?

Post some pics of the underside of the plate. It's been awhile since I had this issue and can't remember exactly what the setup looked like.
edit: Are the clips attached to the car and not the sill plate? If so, no worries. Just yank them out and buy some new ones. I can't remember exactly how they attach to the sill plate, but you didn't break anything most likely. The clips are cheap online as well. Buy extras so you have them.

When mine came off it broke the white clips that you see. Same thing happened on an E350 that my boss used to have when his foot caught it.

Thanks everyone,
I guess what I am asking for is how to remove it properly (since one of the clips is still holding it) without breaking. Then I will see if I can put the clips back it. If not, the tape will be the last option.
I just don't want to pull it up if that is not the right way.

Kick it really hard and it will come off lol
But seriously just add a strip of 2 sided tape that **** will never come off again
Tape over the flat porion and that clip too all the way to the end and press on it.

I agree with you so I’m going to try and help without telling you to tape it........wow lol.
If the pics will cooperate.
First, if the bottom of the panel isn’t broken where the white square headed clip attaches it will just slide back into the groove and should hold. To get the panel off you should be able to slide the panel towards the rear of the car just a bit and it lift up leaving the white clip behind just like the others.
Second, there are clip removing tools. You can probably get them from a local parts store similar to one of these.
Third, there is two parts to the clip. The tool will go in between the square head and the round bottom part that is pushed into the body of the car. Use the tool to pop the two pieces apart. If the top part comes out fine, inspect it and you may be able to reuse it. Same for the lower piece, leave it if it looks ok. If the clips need to be replaced the lower clip piece can be gently worked out with the tool or a very small flatblad screwdriver.
If you need to replace all the clips separate top from bottom, install the bottom pieces in the car, top pieces to the panel and then align the 2 parts
of each clip carefully when you are attaching the sill plate.
See the attached pics.

This is what I was looking for. Now, I can see how those clips sit in there. I will just pull the remaining clips up and then try attaching the clips back to the plate.

I appreciate all the help. Will pull the clips out tomorrow to see fi they are broken or not. I think the clips are OK, but the plate itself might not be. The clips have come off of the plate, so hope whatever holds the clips attached to the plate is still intact.
