Panoramic Roof Roller Shade Motor
I just got my 09 E63 and the rear roller shade on the pano roof is in the open position and doesn’t move at all. The front one works fine and there is no noise from the rear or movement whatsoever. The dealer thought it might be a bad motor, but didn’t take the time to diagnose it properly.
What I am in need of are any of the following if anyone knows:
1. Part number for the motor.
2. Pictures and location of the motor.
3. Instructions on how to replace the motor.
4. Illistrations, or videos that outline how to replace the rear pano motor etc...
I am not talking about the rear window shade, I am trying to fix the roller shade on the pano roof only.
All the best and thanks in advance.

Most likely your headliner will need to come down, so they can access the motor and replace it. I would say that it should cost +/- $400, but I could be wrong.
What did the stealership quote you on the price?

thanks..
I am still looking for advice, although it appears that I am figuring things out and will probably be the one helping others with similar problems... thoughts? Ideas? Anyone know what sort of glue method or product might actually hold when completed??

I'm going to buy some white lithium grease today, and apply it. I think that the rails aren't properly lubricated.

Luckily ECS Tuning sells it in half ounce portions for anyone wanting to DIY: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/0019894651/There are instructions on WIS on which points to lubricate too

At the very front edge of the rear passenger track, there is a small rubber stopper and a plastic cap. I was able to remove on T20 hex nut and pry up on this piece, which looked to provide access to the front edge of the track where you could, thoeroetically slide the new guide in, but there just isn’t enough room to get the guide to slide in from the front. Looks like the rear edge of the track is curved preventing the giude to slip off the back side, so no way to get the guide in the track from the rear either.
What a pain in the arsss... If you could just get the guide into the track, the rest of the repair would take less than a minute. So frustrating. After spending about an hour again today, I give up, and I typically never give up on anything.
Anyone here with knowledge, please add your input.
Thx.
