722.9 MCT Transmission oil change fluid amount

Planning to do oil change on my transmission and having trouble confirming how much fluid the tranny uses on a 2012 CLS63 with M157 engine and 722.9 MCT transmission. This site sells a kit and only includes 5 quarts. Is that the correct amount?

Not even close. Attached please find the MB document for filling. Somewhere between 7.8 and 9.7 liters depending on model of transmission. I've also included the procedure to replace the pan. I assume you realize you need special apparatus to fill the transmission, as these do not fill from the top. These are for my 2014, but the process and filling are the same I believe. I did my 2010 C63, and it was quite a process.

Regards,

Joe

Thanks. What code is the 229.xxx mct transmission? It doesn’t use a torque converter which might be the cause of less fluid? It uses clutch packs instead.

Most refills are under 6 qts, yes, but have a little extra on hand just in case.

Do you have the procedure and capacity for a 2015 E63 S AWD? I wonder what the dealer would charge for this job?

It's the same procedure. Still a .229 transmission . It uses blue fluid, not red.

Attached are various documents for your review. Please note, this is not an easy process, requiring special apparatus for draining and filling properly, and access to Star diagnostics to verify operating temps.

Also, here's a link to determine specs of various MB fluids. https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol..._Gear_Oil.html

Joe

Appreciate this topic being brought up... am at 32k miles and just noticed in the service book its recommended to replace transmission fluid at 31k miles or 3 years. Any feedback on what dealers are charging for this? I'm gonna call my dealer Loeber in chicago but curious any feedback on what people are paying for trans fluid change on w212 e63 4matics. thx J
