Carbon Ceramic brakes?
What's your experience with them in the E63 AMG? How long do the front rotors last and what do they cost to replace?
I know they were an $8k plus option, but what are they like later on?

worth every penny. the performance of CCB's is stunning. drive a car with them even if it's around town and you will be a believer. far more 'value' then a bunch of cf options that look cool but offer no performance benefits other then a few pounds of weight loss on a car that is not really all that concerned about weight.
just my 2cents, fwiw.

you have to pay to play for these carbon ceramic brakes. I think they are worth it. it cost way more than regular brakes but do last way longer, so in the long run, it will help with the cost. I read they last around 100,000 miles or so, really depends on how you used them. I know just each rotors are about a little over $4K each to replace. They do great in stopping power, everyone needs to try them but judging this high cost option.
it does makes your AMG stands out from the others and the gold calipers looks great.

I went from iron to ceramic on my E63. Stopping power on the "reds" was great. Stopping power with the carbon is excellent. They are huge rotors and big calipers. Fun upgrade, awesome looks definitely sets you apart. No complaints at all, stops with no squeal. Absolutely no brake dust, and they are GOLD colored. Two thumbs up if you can swing it.

So - how many threads can we have on the same subject? This may be up there as the most asked question.....
Search is a pretty cool thing. Something like "Google" on that thing called "the Internet"....

I had them on my wagon, good experience but value is subjective. They stopped just like the iron standard brakes, a little more initial bite (which is down to the boost and pad compound) which many interpret as being "better" or more effective. Both are more then capable of to make braking in the same fashion, tire traction is the limiting factor unless you are on lap 10 on a track maxed out (and your tires will be done by then anyway).
I had the dealer measure my rotor wear after 25,000 miles and there was very little wear (5-7%) including some tracking time. Pads were about 65% and relatively cheap and easy to replace. Rotors are more than $4k each. Risk isn't so much the wear/oxidation but careless service/wheel change / rock that chips or scores the rotor.
