Pennzoil Platinum Euro is bottling of Shell Helix Ultra Like Petronas = AMG Oil like Shell = Pennzoil. I was wondering on my M133 engine after unplug Solenoid. Much colder. Before 95-107 °C now 80 - 96 °C. max, Very nice
I've only done this with the Compression Test -- never tried it without initiating the test.
(By the way, some 3rd party scanners, like LAUNCH, will also allow you to initiate the Compression Test if you don't have XENTRY. The LAUNCH Creader Elite (1.0) BENZ would be an inexpensive option to keep with the car whenever starting after a long winter's sleep.)
I never tried using Launch because I fear the program is not 100% as good as Xentry in Compression Test and I may ended up doing WOT 5,000+ RPM at start
My Autel can't do it. No such menu.
Have u tried Compression Test with ur Launch Jet ?

I think so. I don't remember. It would have been a while ago. I may try today, but I don't want to do it on a cold engine.
Some temp gauges are misleading due in part to heat exchanger...
Have you noticed your engine fan getting quieter or staying Off since heat is circulated out while driving.

Im now 6 Years in Oil Forum Germany and know all Oil's on this Planet I prefer Redline but to expensive for me xD . Before i drive Petronas Sync 7000 0w40 AP SN. Since i unplug the Solenoid last Year i notice the engine is cooler and quiter. My Fan staying off 95% on Summer too. My oil filter after 150-200h is Clean. Best modification ever this unpluging
P.s. When i get my new 4.0 GTS i will try this too right now

Great results, I would caution again doing this mod on the 4.0 GTS with the M177(8?) yet though, there is not enough data.

Hmmm, while it shows as an option to run the Compression Test, I get a message on my C350 that it is not supported. And, with my tune on the SL400, LAUNCH doesn't recognize the ECU (but it will if I unload the tune). So, I'll have to wait until I have a reason to load the factory file again (like for emissions testing). Or LAUNCH updates their software to accommodate my tune file.

Good to read your progress using Shell Helix SN;SP.
When your engine is ready for consistent response, upgrade to 15w40 and 5W50 viscosity.
On 5w40 VVT positioning is directly impacted by squirters opening. No two ways about this.
It's gonna be the same with newer engines that use the single squirter control (fake) "solenoid" + VVT gears: impacted by pressure drop unless viscosity is used to boost pressure !!

Side by side we see LM flash temp is actually better than Helix...
Next step is test drive your favorite MOD-2: 05W40 oil.
You may notice improved results until enough viscosity is sheared.
This will be your invitation to slowly upgrade towards MOD-3 viscosity while leaky piston rings are still stuck...

viscosity and flash point I’d say is crucial factor in considering.
I’ve only shown the Liquimoly LHT due to Molygen and Synth is “lesser” quality from data standpoint IMO.

LM is bottling cheap Meguine oil same additiv and its ofc every1 one this. Refilled at Meguine. Try to get arround the world "Used oil analysis". LM/Meguine isn't a bad oil but after 8k~ miles additives gone. Get pennzoil platinum euro and be happy xD

if your changing oil every 8k miles, you do not have any say in this.
3700km since last oil change with Motul 5w40, i have to say that the oil looks pretty clean on the dipstick and on the bottom below the MIN is black even when the oil was changed was black not sure why so disregard the dark oil color on the top of the image
