2. It is definitely quieter and smoother, I wouldn't say faster but the gas pedal is more reactive.
Ok, fair enough. Never thought of that.
Haven't gotten around to it yet as it looks like such a PITA to do without a vehicle lift.

My impressions after the unplug and no it isn't in my head, I have passengers said I was driving more aggressively when I said I drove the same way as I always did. https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ml#post8963720

No worries, now just need to get under it, and over it, to the side of it etc etc.

Sorry may I kindly ask what car do you have, your signature might be outdated 1996 CL 500 doesn't have this annoying solenoid.

You can buy an OEM solenoid or buy this for half the cost but wait a while for it to arrive: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ml#post8981405

Depends on how quickly you want to do this mod or how valuable your time is : )

By the way, get a set of these as well on that same site since you are waiting anyways, you want to have them to cap off the live harness and the inactive connector port on the oil pan sid to seal it from dust/dirt/moisture. Especially on the live harness, you don't want a short circuit or any type of damage from the elements for that matter: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ml#post8981915

Here is forum member S-Prihadi's post on this harness: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ml#post8981421

Ah gotcha, so the M157 engine, great engine but tight space ya sadly you do have to get it done from the bottom, I was hoping there was a way you can get it done from the top, which forum members were successful on certain engines.

Good luck on the unplug and hope you enjoy the benefits.

I was really hoping you weren't going to say that. I'll pop the bonnet and order the parts before I attempt but thank you.

Sorry for being the bearer of bad news : (

Edit: I do wonder if you can get away from lifts/hoist with by just using jack and jack stands and/or ramps?

I'm pretty sure you mean the oil pump solenoid.

I have been able to disconnect the solenoid on both my cars from the top. You do need to remove the intake hose that runs from the front of the car to the air filter(s) to get unobstructed access. However, if you have Popeye-sized forearms, you will have difficulties. Maybe post a pic of the front of your engine to give us an idea of the workspace you have. On my C-Class, there is less room to work. On my SL, the intercooler obstructs the view, so it's more by feel.

I would think a CLS is packaged like an E so....looking at bottom only.

Ya but they have a M157 with the V8, not our M276 : (

Yes, ramps or jack stands are sufficient if you raise the car high enough to get under it to remove the splash trays.

You are correct yes, I do mean pump and not pressure.
Probably early one morning I'll have a go at it. I'll put up a pic from above in the not too distant.

I'm thinking that I can find somewhere else and put in a switch or plug and socket to enable me to connect and disconnect as I see fit.

Thanks.
This is really NOT "plug N play" feature! I recommend against going back and forth between MOD-0/1 at your own risks.

The ECU mapped cam positions is not friendly to oil pressure variations besides your solenoid can jam and toast your engine on low pressure without even knowing it... RIP!

> Unplugging MOD-0 solenoid has limited cooling benefits (MOD-1) until you provide an oil that can take advantage of viscosity to build pressure when pumped volumes are limited: MOD-2.x

Engine power and response transformation is handed out by ECU with solid precise timings conditions. That's the opposite of back and forth testing with burnt thin oil.

Happy experimental testing from your MOD friends.

I have both chocks, stands and a trolley jack. But I I will surely check I have everything first. Just tryignto think if I need anything from FCP Euro before I place the order.

Ya sadly most of MB engines don't have an oil pressure sensor, not even a real oil temperature and coolant temperature sensor oof.

You can SIMPLY RANK OIL BY VISCOSITY and select what you need within your comfort zone.
I'm surprised that Petronas isn't listed here given they were an MB F1 sponsor.

- The whole list is the MB229.5 specsheet besides it not supporting 10/15W-40 viscosities.

- Every oil companies market great products.... some more useful than others for our purpose.

- We respect personal choices even stock viscosity with limited cooling. Your results with be directly tied to effective viscosity not the brand.
