E63 S shifting issues
Hey everyone. I ran into a problem where once I get home and try to put the car on park or reverse and the car does not shift into any gear. It stays on “D”. The only way it shifts back into Park or any other gear is when I turn the car off and back on. Any input in what it can be? This has been happening everyday now. I do not have any warning lights on the dash either or codes.

Your push button switch for Park on the console has gone south, as best I can tell from your description. Assuming you have the gear selector on center console with the P button top left?
The module that lies under that button is basically unobtanium (no longer made/stocked). There is a procedure where you can remove it and solder some pins that might work…it worked so far for me, though I still search for that replacement part occasionally

Wait, it won’t go into reverse either? Now that’s weird…question: if you open the driver door (while foot firmly on brake of course), does the car shift into Park?

I mean nothing works. It does not shift into any gear. Nothing at all. I shift up and down, and nothing. I literally have to shut the car off from D and then turn it back on so it can go into Park on its own. It does this sporadically. Once a day or maybe twice at most. It happened when I first bought the car and now it’s been happening for a week straight.
