Passenger side seat airbag warning light…

Once again 2014 E63 with a passenger side airbag deactivation light on while driving. I’ve done a bit of research but it seems like it could be the seat mat which commonly goes. Does this sound correct and does anybody have a part number and is this easy to source OE or aftermarket? TIA

You know airbags can be dangerous to work around or disfunction when most needed.. with that said you're likely on the right track.

Use a scanner to work with chassis active faults.

parts shipped at your command
parts shipped upon your order

First question is, did you have anything in the passenger seat? Next, you should scan the car with xentry so you can figure out exactly which part to replace. Then you can use the system to deactivate the airbag modules while you work on the car. Taking apart the seat is not terribly difficult, it just takes a long time.

In my cars...if there is no one in that seat it is off...maybe your cars "weight sensor" as others have said is failing. The theory is that if no one is in a given seat its airbags do not deploy....

Back when I was a kid...our cars had no airbags and no seat belts...and we liked it that way!

You can disable it in DAS/Xentry pretty easily. I disabled all of the airbag/seat mat options when I installed my Recaro seats in my car.

My 2014 E63 wagon is actually in the shop for this (and some suspension noises) right now...

Was it a difficult fix?

They found an open circuit within the seat position sensor. And apparently that sensor is only available as part of the complete seat bottom assembly and it's not available through MB anymore. They gave me a part number for it - 212-910-39-12-9E38 - but a quick google search shows roughly $1,000 parts. Haven't gotten much further along than that...

I had the same problem (passenger seat mat failure causing SRS warning light) in my W463 G63. For what it's worth / your mileage may vary / use at your own risk etc,

https://www.ebay.com/itm/375913267963

Pretty easy to install I then used my foxwell NT604 code scanner to clear the code and its resolved.

Hmm, interesting. But does the emulator disable the airbag? I regularly have passengers in the front and would like it to work...

From google:

No, a Mercedes seat mat emulator does not disable the airbag; instead, it tricks the car's computer into thinking the passenger seat is always occupied. This keeps the passenger airbag enabled and functioning, which is crucial for safety but means you should never place a rear-facing child seat in the front passenger seat when using an emulator

I see... that could be the solution. Thanks!

**Edit** It is not, they don't appear to have one for North American W212s... grrr. I did find this but they say it's not for USA or Canada cars.
