In Europe, tinted glass is not available on cars with the acoustic comfort package..
My wagon will come with plain see-through (aquarium) windows, but the dealership will make sure to tint all windows behind the B-pillar before delivery.
The reason for not having tinted glass in the states is the laws between State varies widely, I know in my situation Florida allows quite a bit of tint where as the northern state I live in allows very little. I'm happy with it the way it is though, not crazy about tint, I find when it's dark it obstructs my view some. Glad to see everybody is starting to get their cars, I should have mine real soon, gonna be a Red Wagon with the silver forged wheels, I'll post pictures of it when I get it and driving impressions. Looking at the nose on that Iridium Silver car I'm almost sorry I did not go with that on this car, it does look like a silver bullet. But my last AMG Wagon was Iridium silver so I wanted a change and the Cardinal red is a beautiful shade of red and I was sold, was looking at a AMG GT at the dealer in Cardinal Red.
I don’t see this as a matter of varying state law. Most SUVs come standard with some degree of rear tint from the factory. Would be nice to have it done at the factory.

got the feeling suv are treated like vans and therefore you don't need visibility as well as a sedan or wagon.

Window tint regs generally only apply to the windshield and front two windows. In CA for example, the rear side and back windows can be any level of tint, regardless of type of car/SUV. In CO if you have some tint on the front windows it limits how dark you can go in back. If no tinting on the front windows, there is no limit. Again, many other manufacturers deal with this, not sure why MB cannot. Not the end of the world though...

Finally received my Edition 1 Saturday after waiting months like everyone else........ Has anyone had the side decals removed? Yah or Nah, does anyone think it'll affect re-sale? I'm going to wrap all the emblems in gloss black to match the midnight package. Can't wait to break this thing in after 1k...!
What state are you in? My side decals are coming off as part of my purchase and can easily be repurchased and reapplied for resale should the need be. Do you find the yellow tacky or appealing?

It does, right? Had to negotiate with every dealer in town to get a fair deal but finally got the color and options I wanted at a fair deal. Window tints scheduled for Wednesday!

Sorry that I could not post earlier guys but got way too caught up in the car. To say the least it's absolutely amazing. The steering is out of this world, the performance is flawless and the interior is a masterpiece. One thing I noticed is that there is a lot of tire noise and overall sound coming into the cabin, however, that doesn't bother me too much and parking the vehicle takes some time to get used to. However, as of now, there is only one problem. My gps stopped working and no longer tracks my location... taking into the shop next week.

Looks good. That's what I'm nervous about is all the tire noise I know I'll get. I got the same with my 212 but got use to it. I traded in my 212 for a 222 S class a while back and am now spoiled by the complete silence of the S class with absolutely no tire roar. Does your car have the Michelins or the Pirelli tires? I think the SS tires are probably less noise than the Pirelli tires. Unfortunetly I think my car is gonna come with the Pirelli tires. How does the trans feel, is it jerky at lower speeds? My 212 sure was, felt like a tight clutch in a race car.

I have the Michelins on at the moment, truthfully it's not too distracting so don't be too worried but definitely if the road is bad you can hear the tire noise. Definitely jerky on first gear in Sports Plus but after you adjust to the change it's not bad at all, in comfort it's very calm and easy to drive.

I love that car... best color IMO and I'd keep the side decal. I wish I could have ordered this in wagon form.
