Cruise control issue AMG E 2019
i just upgraded from C 2015 to an AMG E 2019. i had no problems with the cruise control in the C, i loved it and it maintained the speed perfectly. now the E my first long drive, i set my cruise control and noticed that it decelerate to maintain same RPM on ramps, it could go down from a cruise control at 160Km, down to 140km/hour and still on cruise control. the way i solve it is to manually go down 2 gears (from 9 to 7) but i hate the experience, the whole idea of a cruise control is not to touch the controls anyone facing same issue and any solution to that besides changing gears ?

I’ve run into the issue where the adaptive cruise intentionally decelerates. I’ve found that this is a two fold problem/feature depending on how you look at it:
1: it tries to read road signs to figure out what the speed limit is. So even if you are exceeding the limit, say driving 160 km in a 120 km zone and then hit an 80 km zone, the cars computer once it detects the new sign will slow you down to the new speed limit.
2: it predicts certain curves in the road based on GPS data, and preemptively slows you down to what it deems a “safe” speed.
I’ve found both quite intrusive in traffic as it’ll look like you’re almost brake checking the vehicle behind you. The good news is you can disable both features and just have regular cruise control that still leaves a safe distance between you and the car a head. Let us know if that fixes you issue.

Happened to me a bunch going through Texas on my way home. Had the CC set for 95 mph (10 over) and the car would slow suddenly when the camera picked up one of the 35 mph speed limit signs on the frontage roads that parallel the Interstate. Very scary. Thankfully I never had any cars right on my bumper.
Finally turned of the speed limit adoption function of Distronic. Hasn't happened here in California much.
I would have liked to think that the route based speed limit adoption on the 2019s would be better about it.

Hmm then it’s perhaps the cruise control logic in C? Maybe try it in S and see if it’s a little more keen on downshifting to maintain speed? Just a suggestion. I know the car drive really lethargic in C I find it almost unbearable. Of course if you’re in break in you have to stay in C until you hit 1,500 km.

Just curious, where about in Texas did you find an 85 mph speed limit? Not too near Houston I would bet.

Maybe it was 80 mph, I forget. I was on the 20 W and then 10 W on my way to California.
Had to drive with no Distronic features at all between Nashville and Dallas as the Mercedes dealer F'd up and reset all calibration setting for Distronic while trying to recalibrate my cameras to enable the self driving feature - at least the vehicle following portion of Distronic worked before that.
The windshield had been replaced at the VPC when the car came in from Germany because we had been struck by a small stone on the last night in Germany while driving between Munich and Stuttgart. Apparently the VPC did not recalibrate the cameras or otherwise messed them up somehow as within a few miles of leaving Euro Motorsports where I had the car delivered to in the states I started getting Distronic alarms and many of the features were disabled. Bummed as these had all worked flawlessly in Germany and I was looking forward to my drive cross country.
In Arkansas I was struck by a very large object out of nowhere dead center in front of the passenger - thankfully neither of my daughters accompanied me on my trip as there was glass blown everywhere inside the car - including all the way back to the rear deck. They could have potentially been blinded. Sounded like an M-80 wend off. Still have no idea where the object came from as there were no cars in front of me. I don't recall whether I was going under an overpass at the time. It was quite a shock.
Thankfully windshield's center layer was still intact and I was able to continue driving to a dealer in Dallas which had a windshield in stock and they replaced and successfully recalibrated the Distronic system and other than the odd inappropriate speed limit adoption it has been working fine.
I should note that Sunday I took a different route than I normally do while returning from a trip down to San Diego and the car did grab a wrong speed limit on the way home. It was on the I-15 near where some HOV lanes split off and the car's cruise control setting suddenly dropped from something north of 65 to 45 MPH - or attempted to anyway. I caught it pretty quickly.
So, it's a bit quirky. But all in all way better than my other cars.

I have the MB windshield replacement insurance. Wanted to make sure I could get factory glass. Still have a few silver bullets left but sure hope not to have to use them.
