Risk level of lemon buyback 2018 E63 Wagon?
If I decide to move on this car, how much will the lemon buy back impact the resale price? The dealer's acting like it's no issue with regard to pricing on their end. My assumption is that when I want to let go of this car in 2-3 years, I'll take a big hit on resale value, and that they should discount this a good 10-15%.
I really wanted a wagon for the space (2 dogs and intent to start a family soon) but I've found sedans with similar mileage, priced lower, without any shady title history.
Are there any lemon issues specific to the wagon or are they the same across the W213 platform? From what I've read, it does not sound wagon-specific, but interested to hear what other people think. Appreciate your input!

If the car had a buyback and has since been operational, it may mean it’s more of a technical issue mb initially failed to resolve promptly. I would suggest to obtain all possible available maintenance records and then have a comprehensive inspection done on the car and you can then decide.
the rms issue may outweigh all other concerns in my opinion.
in canada, the wagon is listing at around $85-95k cdn or $63-70k US equivalent. Therefore, the seller there is asking the upper range for sure.

Did you consider the sedan before the wagon? From what I can read here, they both seem equivalent re mechanical reliability.

here in canada, the sedan version is pretty common and i do see them on a weekly basis. 😄
it’s unfortunate i have to give up my wagon as the costs of repairs just kept mounting up since my warranty expired. Air suspension, Rms, cv shafts and replacements of full brakes really hit me hard. I can’t say this is what you will be looking at for owning it but you should have a rainy days funds for the costly repairs and maintenance

Not the case with M274 piston cracking and M278/M157 bore scoring.
Another couple of years without grenade behavior and the M177 might earn a stripe on the sleeve for medium-term reliability. Here's hoping.

Don’t let the sales guy convince you otherwise - the buyback will make it really tough for you to sell the car later and will impact price and really narrow the buyers who’ll buy it. Been there done that, I have a car fax minor and it’s killing deals left right center. I didn’t think it would be a big deal when I bought the car knowing about the car fax minor. But it is. BAT rejected my wagon listing and I’m pretty sure that’s why. Etc. Etc.
And what if they never really fixed the problem?! It was a lemon for a reason.
I’d pass. Save up a little more and buy a clean car. Story cars aren’t worth it.

I'm so proud to live in a country where everyone is afraid of being murdered all the time, lol.
And yes having had both 212 and 213, the number is way too strong.
Just my .02. Good luck in the hunt.
