I been looking trought the shops near my town for Red Caliper Paint, specially for G2 or Telia somehting, forgot the name.

Some guys at a shop recommended me to just use the spray paint they sell at pep boys and ****, the engine paint. We are gonna use it for my car and a S4, what do you guys know about it?

Its like 30 dollars cheapers, so whatcha guys think?

just use high temp paint. i haven't heard of anyone having problems with this method (including myself).

just don't spray it. use a brush and a few coats. for the last coat, you may want to spray it for a smoother finish.

i used the G2 paint for mine and it looks just like it was powder coated on.

If it was me i would not use any of that spray paint. It wont look as good, last as long, or give the same protectin against the dirt or brake dust.

heres a pic of mine.

The kits by www.G2usa.com, www.Foliatec.com and www.Legend5.com all come with a chemical hardender. The spray on stuff does not. You can put 4-5 coats with the brush on stuff.

I just used G2 in blue on my E55 and added red to my Sport Trac. I have done this procedure 4 times and I like to remove the pads.

The spray paint is OK. It give me a high grossy look and last me for more than 5 years. I use VHT hi temp rate 900F. They even have a picture of brake caliper on the can. The trick is you need to clean the caliper real good. I use brake cleaner spray and a wire brush then I paint it 4-5 coated. Make sure you let the paint dry between each coat. Don't forget to cover all the area that you don't want to paint it. I did touch up spray every 1.5-2 year to give it a fresh look.

Oh it's about $8 a can
Hope that help

I just picked up some of the G2 caliper paint. I am going to try it out this weekend on my wife's ML. To those that have used it, how quickly does it dry. If I jack up the front of the car, remove the wheels and paint the calipers, will I have time to then jack up the back before the paint sets? Would it be better to just remove all 4 wheels at once?

Thanks - John

u can take all 4 tires off at once but its not neccisary. I used the G2 paint on my C230 to do all 4 calipers and i used the stock MB jack. i first mixed the reactor and paint then i even had time to clean each caliper then paint it and waited almost 15 min. and did a seconed coat. then i put then rim back on and went to the other wheel and did the whole process over staring from jacking up the car taking the wheel off and painting the caliper, waiting almost 15 min. did a seconed coat and put the rim back on. i did the same with the rest of the calipers. I fugure u have at least 4-6 hours before it starts to get very hard and stick. what i also did was put the paint can back in my house when i was not using it so it would not get as hot. (since its hot here in Florida) i am not sure if it helps but it worked for me. And they look great. Dont get fooled my how much is in the can, I had like half left with 2 coats on each, i could have done like 2 more on each to empty the can.

goodluck.
