2003 ML350 Parking brake adjustment
The parking brake of my ML350 is very loose. It almost doesn't function at all. I am having a feeling to tight the cable. Any body can help me with some pictures/docs on how to do that? Thank you.

Don't tighten anything. First remove the rear rotor/drum combination as see if the brake material hasn't become unattached. This must be done first.

Checking one side might be sufficient. Then go under the truck and look above the driveshaft and you will see the parking brake mechanism. See if there are any loose or detached cables.
Then have someone step on the parking brake and see how it works. Then release.
Here is how things should look.

Thank you so much. Will check it out this weekend.
Also, just wondering where do you get those pdf documents? It seems very helpful. Can you email me a copy? if so, please realnew2010@gmail.com

parking brake faulty
hi there i am very new to this forum.
can anybody tell me how to fix the parking brake on my 2004 ml 270 cdi.
there is very little movement on the release handle and the foot pedel stays down but if you keep pulling the release handle you can release the foot pedal off
the floor. is it a slipped cable or a snapped cable from the foot brake or from the release handle
hope anybody can help
kind regards james

Remove the panel that covers the Parking Brake and have a look see. It is probaly the spring that is stretched or broken.
If everything looks good up top, then you will have to go under the truck to see if the cables are corroded and not releasing.

parking brake
thanks
for your quick reply when you say in your reply that the spring has snapped
do you think it could be the flat spiral spring number two in the pdf diagram or the number 6 spring in the same diagram. if it is the flat spiral spring is it a easy job to do your self and is it expensive part to replace etc
