C63 S AMG Gets Up Close and Personal with Tree After Failed Stunt

Worst drift attempt in history leaves this poor Mercedes with some bad damage after leaving a car meet.

We’re not sure what’s causing so many people to crash their cars lately. Perhaps it’s the ever-increasing power levels we’re being blessed with. Or maybe it’s our dreams of social media fame. Or, perhaps the number of crashes haven’t increased at all, we’re just seeing more of them thanks to the rise of the smartphone. Whatever the reason, it’s typically Mustangs or Corvettes that we see crashing, not Mercedes vehicles. Until now.

These days, people record cars leaving meets just because you know that there’s a good chance somebody’s going to crash. And that’s exactly where YouTuber CarSpotterQVS captured this poor Mercedes C63 S AMG and its owner try and fail to impress the crowd. The event is called 100% Auto Live, and it took place recently at the Rotterdam Ahoy, a large complex located in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

With over 40,000 enthusiasts in attendance, there’s no doubt that this Mercedes driver was trying to strut his stuff. He first pulls out of the parking lot and gives it a little gas, a stunt that goes pretty well. And that undoubtedly gives him the confidence to do a little more. So while making a right, he floors it, kicking the rear out. And that’s when things go horribly, horribly wrong.

In what might be the worst drifting “attempts” we’ve ever seen, the Mercedes snaps back in the other direction, sending it and the driver careening towards a tree. The C63S does a complete 360 and smashes into the poor tree on the passenger side at a pretty good clip. A crowd quickly gathers to witness (ahem record) the aftermath, which looks pretty bad.

The hard hit smashed up the rear quarter and passenger door pretty bad. Though it obviously could have been much worse. It’s hard to say if there’s any structural or frame damage, but there doesn’t appear to be. But clearly, the poor Mercedes isn’t in driving shape. And the owner not only had to do the walk of shame, but also figures to receive a hefty ticket and a tough chat with his insurance company.

We don’t often see silly displays like this from Mercedes drivers, and we hope that this one’s an outlier. So let’s just all agree to leave the showing off and skill-less driving to the Mustang guys, OK?
