Why slum it when you could pick up this classic 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb for the price of a used Honda Civic?

Recently, a random chassis was found in some back shed somewhere, and nobody at Mercedes had any idea what it was or where it came from.

We’re continually astonished by those select-few homologated cars that international racing organizations require manufacturers to build to allow them to go racing. Case in point: the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.

Some old Mercs fall short in the engine department. Sure, the engine will never die, but that’s because you’ll practically be standing still. This swap fixes all that.

This, as you may or may not have guessed, is a classic Mercedes 300SL. And we can forgive you if you didn’t immediately recognize it, since this has to be one of the worst examples of a 300SL ever.

Picture the best vintage Mercedes you can buy. You’re wrong. This 1989 560 SL is the best, because you might actually be able to afford it.

Ah the 300 SL. What a vision of class, style and performance. The cars a classic, but it existed well before Mercedes and their performance arm ties the not. Honestly that would’ve put it squarely in AMG’s wheelhouse.
