Does anyone know of any cool hacks for the new E class?
Like how to get to the COMAND hidden menus?
How to stream music using Bluetooth?
How to watch videos while in motion (for passengers)?
How to use all the navigation commands while driving?
Or anything else that's not in the manual?????

Ok, I figured out how to get into the hidden Engineering Menu. You have to press these three keys, "hangup + # + 1: for about 10 seconds. Once you get in there, u have a ton of settings and logs and options to play with, but I couldn't find anything too useful. I tried enabling a bunch of different things, but nothing seemed to make much of a difference. The coolest thing was probably the Bluetooth Audio for wireless streaming, but unfortunately I can't get it to connect to my iPhone nor my laptop. It seems buggy. If any of you can figure out how to fix it, please let us know.

Comand Hacks?
I couldn't get my Blackberry Storm to play BT audio thru my Comand system either ... any step-by-step instructions?
Also, there are tons of options listed, where can I learn what each one does?

Well I dont remember exactly what all the steps I did to get it to work but I'll go back tomorrow and try to redo it maybe take some pics to post on the board but what I do remember is that once you enable BT audio (dont remember which submenu its under but I do remember that I kept turning on the wrong thing that would basically make it so I couldnt even connect to my Pre) I went to the reset option once the COMAND system restarted I went under audio, then to BT device, started streaming and vola it worked, I was so stoked... but like I said I'll try to get back to the submenus I enabled, and also let you know the other menu which I was messing around with at first but was not working and get back to yall with a step-by-step tutorial

That would be great, cuz I got tired of messing with it... I think the BT audio was under "Hardware Settings", then "HU Configuration" or something like that.

Alright guys I'll do my best at this... (BT=Bluetooth)
-End Call + # + 1: opens Engineering Mode
- HU Settings
- HU Parameter
(the following are the settings I put them in)
(1) BT contact plate: Not Installed
(2) LCT: Installed
(3) BT audio: On
(4) Audio Aux: Off (greyed out: not an option)
(5) Video Aux: Off
(6) Navi: installed
(7) BT: on
-back buttonx2
-pull command wheel down
- system reset
- reset - yes
- go to audio, then go to the audio tab again to bring up the drop down menu of audio options, select BT audio and activating audio device comes up, then the audio streaming screen
I have included screen shots of all the important steps (sorry for the poor quality but it was night time and the flash on my phone kept going off) Let me know if I need to clairfy ne thing.

thanks for the instructions Jinx. But, I can't get it to work with my iPhone. It tries to connect, but it keeps dropping the connection. Has anyone had success with iPhone? Maybe I need the latest firmware or something.

I think it has trouble when the iphone is a phone and a bluetooth player. I did change something else that allows the temperature to be displayed on the command screen when you change it via the normal controls. so now there is a pop-up box when you change the cabin temperature that dispays the set temperature on the command screen. Now if i can only remember what i changed. . .

Through the directions Jinx left I've got both an iPhone 3G, and an iPhone 3GS to play through the Bluetooth audio. It works perfectly for me when the iPhone is both the telephone and the music player, but it only works with a non-telephone iPhone on an ad-hoc basis; that is, it doesn't reconnect to it without adding the device again.
I'll post a video a little later.

Awwww man, I wonder why it won't work for me. I even upgraded the iPhone to the latest firmware. Still no go! What do you mean by, "it only works with a non-telephone iPhone on an ad-hoc basis"??

Just tried. The instructions were perfect but when I tried to connect my iphone (as the music player) it would say connection unsuccessful. It still recognized it as my phone though.
EDIT: Found this on an apple messageboard
If your car unit has Bluetooth with A2DP and you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS (not original iPhone) with OS version 3.x, you should be able to play music. Most hands free car units only have HFP for telephone use.

I mean, I had two iPhones in the car. One was paired to the E-Class as the phone, and one was just one I brought along. The one that wasn't paired as the phone didn't work very well.

I applied the hack to my 2010 E350 COMAND system and was able to send BT audio from my VerizonWireless DROID but not my Blackberry Storm. Hmmm!

Still cannot stream audio with iPhone
Thanks to jinx420hat for command engineering mode access sequence. Able to turn bluetooth audio on, but still cannot connect iPhone 3GS as bluetooth audio source. Command screen indicates "No Bluetooth Audio Device Connected."
When updating Bluetooth Device List, it initiates search "Searching for Bluetooth Devices," but indicates "No compatible Bluetooth device found."
Never got to "activating audio device" or "audio streaming" screens.
tom_baker reported success with his iPhones, but the set-up may be different down under.
Anyone had success streaming with iPhone in US? Any advice appreciated.

MBWorld Fanatic!
When trying to connect the phone via comand, select external authorization and have the phone search for the car instead of the car searching for the phone.

I did this using an iPhone 3GS and now I have my phone connected as a phone AND it streams bluetooth music. I've been using the bluetooth stereo headsets at the gym for a few months, and the quality of the streaming in the car is very similar. Only an interruption every now and then. When I recieve a call, it pauses the music, I answer. When I hang up, it resumes right from the phone. Pretty neat. I put an ipod 120G classic in the glovebox so I can take my whole collection with me, but the phone trick is great for new music between syncs.

Nope. I deauthorized my iphone in COMAND and selected "forget device" on the phone itself. Then resync it by just selecting external authorization as suggested above and it worked fine.
