BRAKE Pad, Rotors, & Calipers Discussion Thread (OEM, aftermarket, etc...)
The 2004 brakes on my sedan are definately a big improvement over the ones on my old coupe. But I still saw a significant decrease in the amount of dust when i switched from the OEM to porterfield pads on my 2004.
BTW bought an Alternator for the above RV at Autozone last weekend. It turned out to be a bad unit despite their testing it twice. Cost me a lost day at the races and a fee for my mech to tell me all was well except the new Alt.. Not too sure about buying anything else there.

I had porterfields R4S on my BMW. They stopped great, but squeeked loudly and had a lot of dust in my opinion.

Has anyone tried any ceramic pads? They are supposed to be the ultimate in low dust. Satisfied Brakes makes them but they only show ceramic pads for rears.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
MBUSA Fast Moving Parts Catalog (http://www.mbwholesaleparts.com) lists the part number as 003 420 26 20
The russian mb club (http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb.asp) lists the part number as 003 420 60 20
http://mercedes.thebenzbin.com/ translates both of these MB part numbers into this part number N1010-138475 (Pagid or Textar OEM), however, this site does not list that part number for my car. Instead they list this part number N1010-168536 and it doesn't indicate if it's Pagid. I get that same part number from several other sites, but they don't show the manufacturer and I don't want to end up with cruddy off brand pads.
Finally, autohausaz.com lists a Pagid pad for my car with part number 003 420 26 20, the same number indicated by the MBUSA Fast Moving Parts Catalog. I usually order from autohausaz and their price is very good ($63.97 shipped), but here's the problem with them. With that part number it says "Not for models with Evolution or AMG Evolution Sports Package." Since I have C7 package, isn't that the same as the Evolution package? But I thought I had read somewhere that all 2002 C230 Coupes had the same brakes. If that's the case, it shouldn't matter whether I had the C7/Evolution package.
Can anyone help me make sense of this? TIA,
Frank
