Where to buy replacement brake pad/disc other than stealership?
My dad's CLK needs the brake pad and brake disc to be changed. Can anyone tell me where to buy replacement brake pad and disc for a reasonable price? Preferably within Canada.
My dad quoted $700 for both front brake pad and brake disc, is this a good deal?
I wouldn't mind the aftermarket ones as long as they fit, i myself using Porterfield brake pad and i think they are pretty good.

I dont know what brakes your dad has, but I paid US$350 +8.25% tax for my parts at the dealer, that's for the bigger brake, i have an 05SS. $700 is not a bad deal if installed, especially if Canadian $.
check formymercedes, they have brakes there, and a site sponsor too.

Those front pads and discs are pretty cheap, those are very simple small single piston brakes, even genuine MB should cost you more than $200 US for the set. Check with Duval Motors, an MB dealer in Florida, they give pretty good discounts (link is on my website). Also check autohausaz.com, they have OEM pads and discs for a fair price, free shipping for an order that size. Personally, the MB brakes for that car have to be worst pads MB makes, they dust like crazy and don't last, don't know why anyone would want them. If you want aftermarket in Canada, check out this small outfit called Satisfied Brakes. I use their ceramic pads on my Jeep and they are pretty good, very low dust and put up with my wife's abuse.

I would never go for a non-original breaks again. I have done this once - I saved couple of $$$ for the non-original ones and than $1000 on top to get all fixed. Never ever again. And especially for breaks. No way. I will rather spent $200 more and have original parts with waranty from MB...

That's funny, the genuine MB pads are probably the cheapest/least expensive choice. You have to figure that MB uses them because they were the low bid provider, MB uses many cheap components in the car, many made in China. People with euro cars make fun of American cars but I pay a premium for genuine Ford brake pads for my kid's Mustang, best out there, very well made, better than any pads I've seen from MB.
Many of us go aftermarket on cars like yours to avoid the insane dust they generate. Figure MB pads are probably $50 yet many of us pay 2-3 times that for good quality aftermarket pads. For example, on my kids SLK230 with similar single pot brakes, I put in Akebono, about double the price of the factory pads and they are fantastic, near zero dust, smooth, quiet, a noticible improvement over stock and just the quality of how they are made, beveled edges, stainless steel shims, nice casting on the backing plate.
Many times people go to a cheap lube and tune place and get garbage brakes put on like Bendix and then it's done by mechanics that just graduated from oil change school. Then they squeal, stick, kill rotors, wear rapidly and then swear off anything but the "real thing". Do you know that at the MB dealer, many of the mechanics use aftermarket pads despite their employee discounts. I was talking to one mechanic there and he uses Porterfields in his benz.
Rotors on the otherhand, I would get MB because they are cheap and good enough, not great, but good enough. On my 2004.5, it has the brembo AMG 4 pot brakes and MB used a different pad manufacturer on those and they don't dust as bad as yours and last 50K miles so I would get MB pads again for that car but probably get Akebono's again.

Where to buy cross drilled front rotors for '05 c230K Sports Sedan?
I've searched and read through at least ten threads and they only compare different brands and talk about costs of the brake job. No one seems to mention where to buy rotors. Parts America has pads, but not cross drilled rotors. Can anyone help please? I'm sorta desperate b/c my rotors need replacing asap.
I've done my research and couldn't find anything. Is the dealer my only choice?
Autopartswarehouse = $212 each???
Racepages = $210???
Parts Train = $205???
AJUSA = none
Parts America = none
autohausaz = none
Autoanything = $257
Autocarparts = $210
Thank you for all your help.

You can either go to your local dealer or use one of several MB dealerships that give wholesale prices with a MBCA (Mercedes Benz Club of America) discount.
I looked and really couldn't find any front rotors for my 2005 C230 ss without going to the dealership.
I would have waited for better price through the wholesale but I had to get brakes done ASAP.

2007 C230 brakes / rotors
so i have about 28k miles on my c230 and the replace brake sign came up..i live in san francisco area...i called mb of oakland and they want $675 for brakes & roaters does that sound reasonable? can i change them myself?
#745
look for an independant brake shop and get your rotors measured. Most likely they're still ok. Pads should be $100 or so from your dealership and a new wear sensor (only 1) should be about $6.

c32 brakes?
I'm not sure what kind of calipers, and rotors come on the 07 c230. But have you checked for the c32 brakes? (4 piston calipers, I think 13.6" rotors?) You can probably get them for around the same price as the 07 brakes, or maybe cheaper...
correct me if I'm wrong anyone, lol...

thought i read on another thread the calipers were more or less the same 4 piston jobs- minus the script saying Mercedes rather than AMG. i agree that the rotors are slightly smaller though. so the BBK calipers on the new model W203 sport aren't roughly the same as the C32?
