How many miles or kms have you clocked your W203 ?
After the blizzard Colorado got in December, my little coupe couldn't get out of the driveway, much less serve for anything more than a cute garage ornament =)
But, I got the Blizzak's put on and I was keeping up with SUV's for the rest of the season! 4+" of snow / ice / slush was nothing for those tires.
Just my $00.03 =)
my 2004.5 C320 SS is close to 48,000 miles....

Car runs fine engine-wise, though quite a few really stupid things have broken (all replaced under warranty, thinking of getting it extended). In terms of minor nuisances, this car has has been in the shop more times than every other car my family has ever owned in the last 20 years.
Things that have broken:
shifter boot (fabric was ripping)
steering wheel buttons (both sides cracked 3 times)
passenger (right) side IR sensor (to open sunroof)
instrument cluster MFD (random faded pixels)
foot dampers for HVAC system (broken linkages)
funky/awful smell in HVAC system - dealer did some kind of treatment
rear hatch handle
key fob casing (cracked along edge of button)
transmission casing - small leak, repaired as per recall
turn signal stalk (wouldn't hold position while turning right)
With that said though, this car is also by far the most fun to drive (every other car we've ever owned was a minivan or full-size sedan)

btw, I had a 1/4 tank left...
And I must further mention not to try this without having this:

Cheers

The best I've gotten:
92 miles
1:33h
59 mph
42.6mpg
Now, the computer is usually a bit too optimistic, so that probably means it really only achieved 40 mpg. Still, I'm not complaining.
This was straight highway driving, with a bit of a sharp uphill (1 mile) and a long gradual downhill (5 miles) and with the cruise control set at 62 mph and engine revs at 2500 rpms. Air conditioning off except for on some downhill portions.
Nice concealed Valentine One hiding back there. Clever!

Or else, we'd just have to wait for a diesel.
By the way, my 2005 C230 Kompressor was rated 24/32 by EPA. I assume mig888's is the same since it's a similar car.

Okay, I’m just bull****ting with you. The kick in the tail that a 13 second, 155 MPH machine delivers is something I hope I’ll never have to forego. However, between our MB and my work truck, I’m sending the petroleum concerns ~$750 every month.
*edit*
just rolled over 55k

I agree, you can't find anything with "head-into-headrest" acceleration that doesn't have a large fuel bill.
Maybe when you said "trade a few horsepower" maybe you didn't mean to halve it (C230 has 189 hp vs your C32's 349 hp); but perhaps, you should consider a fuel efficient 300 series model.
I assure you, the 300 series models complies well, even when driven aggressively while delivering upon excellent fuel economy. Having an E320 in the household, long distance trips average over 30 mpg when driven at reasonable speeds (65-70 mph).
Would you have any objections to a C30 CDI AMG?
has 140,000km
the hood paint is marked up to ****s and a few minor problems that are familiar on this board (rough idle, squeeks, rattles, etc.) but nothing major
Maybe we should write letters to Mercedes-Benz New Jersey asking for a performance oriented diesel.
I don't have the fuel economy specifications for the C30 CDI AMG, but if I remember correctly, it was a bit high for a diesel. Something like 24/34 mpg ish.
0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds
15 sec quarter mile at 97 mph (a tad bit slow)
230 hp
400 lb/ft torque

one thing ill miss most is the steering wheel i bought from Frank for that car
