Anyone has HID fogs?

I searched the forum, only 2 C-class owners have changed their foglights to HID. But both of them have errors messages on their instrument cluster. Reason is because the lower HID wattage lead the car to believe the fog lights are out.
Everyone else says it is a waste of time & $, so just change the bulbs.

Anyone has done it without problems?
Can't find anyone photos of fogs with HID.

Have been thinking for a long time to change to HID.
With my Bix on, I can hardly tell any difference with my fogs ON or OFF.

Reason: I just want brighter fog lights (I have already change the bulbs to Polarg 4300k bulbs)

Hi WaveyKat,
Thanks for the reply.
How did you get yours done. Any special precaution when installing them?
Can you post photos?

THe error is due to the bulb out feature. If your kit does not draw a sufficient amount of power to prevent this error, you will need to add resistors.

DION

PM me if you want more info.

WaveyKat,
How would you describe the brightness of the fogs after converting to HID.
Are they much brighter?
BTW, what brand of HID kit you put in?

i also have HID fog light installed in my sport coupe. It always pop out a malfuntion msgs and the fog light will keep blinking which is bothering me the most. I've learn that if u turn on all ur lights before u start the car will help a lil bit. Sometimes it works for a long time, but sometimes it will start blinking again in about 30 mins later. If anyone have a solution to this, it would be great. Also, i notice HID fog light is not alot brighter when ur driving the car, it is VERY bright if u look from the front of the car. I beieve ppls that have hid fog light is just for shows, won't help that much.

I got them. No problem and definetly not a waste of money. I love how they look. Its looks a little green because i took these pics when they were installed and the colors didnt kick in yet. They all match now and i have 12000k all around.

How do you change your parking lights? Do we have to take the whole head lamp out?

BIX or no BIX? If you have BIX, you can reach your hand behind the headlamp where the parking bulb is attached, turn the socket and pull out. Very easy.

Man, 12000k is definitely very very nice.
But I am thinking to stick to around 4300k to match my headlights. (at least for a start, may be later may change to 6000k or more).

How do you install them without warning messagses?

Hmm....may have to reconsider now. Unless I can actually see a real life C class with HID fogs.
Are you using 4300k, 6000k or 8000k?

Its the same on the normal headlights. The Bix units are nearly identical except for the project lamp barrel and shallow dished bezel replacing the reflector of the standard lamps on one side.

By the way, your car is really one hell of a ride.
Saw my friend's C230K SS with AMG 19s. Solid.

Outland, thanks for the clarification. Only reason I was asking was because I've never looked at the halogen application, so I could only speak from experience with my BIX.
