They're CCFL's just like the real Lexus license plate lights. Unfortunately, you have to take the trunk door liner off to do the mod. Yes they need resistors too. The results are nothing short of fantastic though. The only thing I'm worried about is that they're only 3mm in diameter and glass, so I hope they don't break.

Ha.

I don't mind you trying. But I feel bad for you. You've obviously taken a shot to the head in life. The way you talk, spell, think, act and I could name more all point to brain damage.

You've seriously become more annoying than Chucky ever was. Now go find some other mod to tattle to that I hurt your feelings, like how you used to do with other people.

Want to continue this? Like I said, go away.

The way I talk and spell, wow can this get any better!

You made fun of me in the past for not using spell check and not punctuating my sentences, I corrected that and have since continued observing my spelling. I come on this thread and you smash on me for not belonging to the "w203" class when I was only trying to find answers relating to the TOPIC!

And Tattle, I have only gone to ONE mod when I have dealt with Power hungry Mods, and THAT was because I had gotten a infraction for cursing, which would be worth it in your case.

Cry and Moan all you want, I'm posting and asking a question dealing with the topic. Your just having a Rant for some odd personal reason. Mod or not, Grow up.

blah, blah... you love to hear yourself talk...

crying and moaning huh? I'm not the one who made a rant about getting an infraction. I'm talking about all the pm's you sent me about Chucky insulting you.

"personal reasons"? ha! I'm just expressing how the rest of the board feels about your annoying and inane posts.

as for spelling and grammar, you still haven't gotten it down.

I won't even say grow up, I'm just saying, go away.

You have issues, I received a dignified response from Eric, Much appreciated. Don't be scared to dig into your trunk people. It will save you much Time and Headache compared to doing it the way of this 15 page useless thread.

Radio Shack Resistors are SIMPLE and Easy, skip the lame duck stuff.

Great, thanks

Only a few of us have done the mod with resistors tapped in about three or more times... Oh yeah, each time brought us back here... Not all MB's have the same electronics/lighting across the board, what will work in an E55, or a CL for that matter, doesn't work (properly) in a C-Class.

I love how you just admitted that your so called "legitimate" question wasn't really on topic, but was merely a rhetorical to toot your own horn about your Radio Shack resistors.

Unless i missed something.. Can you elaborate e1000 about how to get that mod done? Also, how long have you had it done for and is it staying on consistantly? And approximately what did it cost you in the end?

Thanks in Advance,
Kev

I reallllllly would rather not post the mod publicly because it was somewhat of a hack job. I can imagine already getting PM's complaining about how it's not working right, etc etc. I've had the mod done for about 4 days now and so far, no errors and both lights still work. The total cost of the parts came out to be just under $40.

Did you have any problems with these bulbs so far? Melting covers?

I couldn't find any 5W bulbs locally, they only have 10W and it's the exact same bulbs like yours..Just wondering if these bulbs are safe?

For others, anyone tried 10W bulbs in their cars? Did these bulbs really melt your covers? I know I've read some posts ( #284 and #285) in this thread about people melted their covers because of 10W bulbs..

The local seller actually told me the bulbs are safe for my car and this guy's been selling the same bulbs for 10 years for MBs and Bimmers, but not sure if I can trust this guy tho..

I was going to get Hoen bulbs online, but the shipping is like 17 USD to Canada.. I just thought I tried locally first before getting the HOens online..

10W bulbs will almost surely melt your housings and burn out pretty quickly.

/agree with e1000.

If you want an easy way for the mod.. I've had my Hoens for several months now with no problems, its a great difference compared to stock bulbs. They are worth the shipping.
