They're not LED's so they might work without having to use resistors.

Just for reassurance.....I just tried these right now, and after about 10 minutes I could smell a slight burn smell, and couldn't touch the lens with my hand. Theres no wattage listed on the autolumination, but they must be 10w if they're that hot. I didn't doubt the person who said that these would be too hot, I just wanted to see for myself. What the hell...

I had replaced the stock license plate bulbs with 10w 'hyper white' bulbs; one went out within a few weeks. Took my car into the dealer, told them I had a bulb out message on dash; they R&R and added resistors - all covered under warranty.

Any chance you can look at your invoice and find out what exact resistors they used and the polarity? So, does that mean that you are using LED license plate bulbs now?

So the dealer installed resistors even though you had aftermarket bulbs ? This is funny. My dealer probaly wouldnt do anything like this because they dont like aftermarket and will not even touch it. Which bulbs did you get ? Also after reading the majority of this thread I can conclude that no one has figured out a bulb we can buy that can actually work without resistors.

What I did was prior to taking the car into the dealer for svc, I replaced the bulbs I had on (aftermarket) with the original stock bulbs. Since then, I havent had a chance to replace the stock bulbs with led's to try it out. Here's the invoice; lemme know what you think:

IF you have time, try the LEDs. If they work with this updated cable harness, I'm sold.

Will do. Does anyone know of any reputable led suppliers (ebay or otherwise) who may have license plate bulbs fs? Also, can someone please confirm the bulb size (36-41mm?).

I got mine from autolumination.com (39mm). They work beautifully inside the car without any problems, but as you know they flicker in the license plate socket.

Great! I will have a look over @ autolumination.com. Will all LED bulbs flicker in the license plate socket?

From what I've read, I believe they do. But I don't have enough experience to confirm that.

Yeah...I think if everyone else had these...they would be happy too....so I think its fair to say that were ahead of the game on the non-resistor LED bulbs...for everyone w/ LEDs props to you and for people with stock, you're missing out on an incredible difference for your rear end

well the ones we have arent leds, im not really sure what the hell they are, but im satisfied with them...they're certainly a very noticeable upgrade and you're right, everyone should be buying these...its like $15 for a set of license plate bulbs AND reverse bulbs.
