CL203 Coupe Pano-roof Maintenance - MB lube Grease Part #s, gears, & fixes

I am a frustrated C230 sunroof not working and need help fellow. I am new to this forum. Having read all of the various comments, it boils down to removing the headliner to get at the motor. Does anyone have the definitive source for instructions on removing the headliner?

Another one of my mini projects I want to work on this summer is to get the pano-roof working perfectly.
Anyone have a blow up of the parts with part numbers and how they fit together? Im just missing one plastic piece that serves as the locking mechanism for the deflector (common problem with the pano-roof). Ill post a DIY once I get that fixed (hopefully!)

I think I on the way to getting mine fixed. Talked with a guy last week who has worked on a few of these.
#1 - He said don't forced it close - the worst thing you can do for the gears, cables and track because it is probably something stuck in the track causing your problem. which sounds about right because I used to park under a tree while having lunch with the sunroof open.
#2 - Put me in contact with an OEM remanufactured distributor to buy a sunroof assembly. Yes you want to know how much? $200
#3 - He is supposed to get started next week - said he will do the job for $300. So I will keep everyone posted

I need to open it to take pictures to get parts of what i need to fix mine.
EDIT: if i remember right its a Webasto sunroof. Maybe finding a webasto sunroof specialist or dealer may be cheaper..

square one...closed again....we got two sunroofs from salvage and both were bad so the mechanic said he didnt want to work on it anymore. I convinced the mechanic not to give up bc I wasn't in a rush but the parts guy gave up he said he ain't going to try to get anymore in... I kinda don't blame him...he was probably losing money on the shipping.
So my only other thing I can see is a class action law suit against MB for the loss in value of our cars due to the defective parts.

The lawsuit won't get us working sunroofs this summer. I don't mind driving the car around while I get things sorted. By I already know one part that I need.

You won't get anywhere with a Class action LS. These SR's require constant maintenance & Webasto has been in the business forever. They will simply prove neglect.

For all you guys in SoCal we got the diagram and repair instruction and the DAS (Mercedes STAR). Why don't you guys have a Pano Roof Meet and i'll be happy to come down and help you guys out (with the STAR my mechanical skills aren't that great).

Okay guys, lets get a bit of a sign up going for who would want to do a SoCal Pano roof fix & maintenance day.
I have a warehouse in Gardena/Compton area that can house two cars so we would be working in the shade. While I have most tools that I think we would need, I have no interior type tools.
Lets get a discussion going on this and perhaps we can finally put up a DIY, and get those roofs working again.
Date TBD by attendees availability.

The more I talk to the Pano guys the more I feel it's the guide rails that are the problem.
I have attached a PDF, check it out. I'll put together a more in detail document (for example step 1-6) for you guys.

Since the ears in the pano's motors are plastic and tend to break over time, I thought that what happened to mine. I talked to my neighbor about it and he said I could give him the gears and he will have one of his co-workers make a set of metal ones. He is supposedly a really good machinist. I am not sure how long or the cost yet but wanted to see whats the interest on here for you guys.

Has anybody though of this?:
Why not switch the gears from the shade motor and glass motor (after removing/cleaning any residue)? The glass motor is the one that fails due to more weight/friction. Would make since that with less weight/friction on gear from shade motor, a slightly compromised gear (from glass motor) would still work on shade side. The glass motor has a new (hopefully undamaged) gear. No new parts purchased. A simple swap. What do you think?
There is a chance they rotate in different directions I guess and they are not interchangeable perhaps. Thoughts?
