STAGGERED wheel set-up on the 4MATIC - All you want to know
I have a set of AMG 17" aluminium-alloy double-spoke design from a C32 (friend sold his car).
I know the tire width/aspect is different on the front and rear (225/45ZR17 front and 245/40ZR17 rear).
If I were to install these on my C240 4matic, does this impact on the performance of the 4matic system in the summer (I change back to 16" rims in the winter)?
I had a discussion with a friend and he said that the 4matic the front and rear should be same to perform well.

white and whiter
don't think it'll affect the 4matic drivetran. The bigger rim with wider and lower profile tires will surely give you more handling ability. I only know that the suspension (for the front) cannot be inter changed between the 4matic and rwd car.

C320 Sport Sedan 4matic
Correct. I have the c320 sport 4matic with the C7 wheel package (17" 7 spoke wheels/ Michelin Pilot sport tires). Car handles great in dry and wet conditions. Not so good with snow. Don't know why they didn't put an all season tire on the car. Driving wise, couldn't feel much of a difference between the RWD version. I'm not an expert but you shouldn't have any problem with those wheels. Performance in the summer is really awesome! Good Luck.

Anyone have 4MATIC and Non-Stock Rims?
Hey guys, I've got a 2003 c240 4Matic and am planning to get new rims in the near future. For all those of you who have 4matic and have purchased new rims, what SIZE have your rims been?
I have heard that I cannot buy different size rims for the front and back (even though they may be the same diameter, i.e. 19" rims). Please help.

Fantastic news. From what i've read before, if you have different size rims on front and back, it will mess up the car because then the back wheels will have traveled less than the front ones. Can anyone confirm this?
Wassup61, have you personally had any problems driving while you were in 4matic?

I'm planning to get 19" rims on the front and back. But, I notice most people don't get the same width on the front and back, and the person i talked to that has the same rims said he also had different widths on the front and back (he doesn't have 4matic so it's no problem). So will the width affect the overall diamter of the rim/tire combo?
Thanks.

Question about 4MATIC wheels
I was wondering if I can put staggered wheels on my C240 4matic.
Anyone know if that will be a problem, with gear box or anything else?
Sorry if I should post this in the wheels and tires, but i was wondering about the C240 in particular.
Any help will be appreciated, thank you in advanced

staggered wheels will make NO difference on a 4matic. The width of the wheel does not matter. However, if you put 19's in the back and 18's up front, that would give you problems.
Just to clear it up, 7.5's on the front and 8.5's in the back will not do any harm at all.

stress differential on the 4wd power train. this is fine as long as the circumference of all 4 tires are the same. but once they are different, you're setting up a condition in which they're rotating at different distances per feet/mile. the more the difference, the more the stress.
one can be argumentative and say that they're installing 19s with exact same circumference as 18s but that's so farfetched that it's all but unrealistic, i opine

realistically, yes. at one time, staggared wheels/widths (similar overall circum-
ference) was not recommended, but as noted earlier, even MB will configure
staggered out of the shop now. so answer is yes, staggered allowed only in
controlled fashion. you really need to pay attention to rotations per mile. what
i dont know is what is allowable and at what point, differential exceeds the
recommended envelope.

this help calculate circumference and gets you in the ballpark. my gut feeling
says stick with a point or two diff. natch, if they were exact, the better.

2006 4MATIC Staggered Wheels Options?!?
Sorry if this is repetitive. I did several searches and read the W203 Wheels thread, which was great, but I could not find a definitive answer.
So here goes, I have a 2006 C280 4Matic and I really want staggered (F 17x7.5 225/45 and R 17x8.5 245/40) wheels and tires but I am having trouble finding answers on fitment. So far it looks like it's a no-go. I see most wider rear staggered wheel sets in the Mercedes catalog say Not compatible with 4Matic. But then I noticed in the catalog they have the Style IV AMG twin-spokes "B6 603 1342" (F 18x7.5 225/40 and R 18x8.5 245/35) rims as being available for the 2000 and up 4Matics. Offset is 37 up front and 34 out back. Can this be right? Can I put these 18" staggered steam rollers on my little 2006 C280 4Matic?
This is the beefy "C32" kind of look I am going for ...
