Missing my beloved Benz

I do love my automatic wiper blades but I found that my car, even with the orignal stock tires, isn't safe, in the rain. Manual transmission and rear wheel drive combined with rain on my 240, isn't fun driving.

are they good or not ?

MB approved ?
I want to get some new MICHELINs on my new 17" AMG wheels,
but not sure if to get the A/S or the regular PILOT series....
someone please educate me !!!

if you are in an area where it's sunny most of the year and doesn't get snow and stuff, PilotSport would be a better choice because it's cheaper compare to the PS A/S. In dry, I believe the regular PS have better performance.

Pilot Sport A/S is an all-season tire. This means that it is inferior to high-performance summer tires in summer, and to winter tires in winter (snow + low temperatures). Very much a budget solution. If budget is your main consideration, get a set of 16" wheels with all-season tires, and you will be happy using them all year-round. For anything else you should prepare to pay quite a bit more.
As for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S not being a MB-approved tire, follow this link:

I guess the brand return to the dealer.. because our MB dealer in UAE is supllying Mechlin and Dunlop only for the cars ...
Since 2001 the spear tire still stored in the trunk lol.. but last time i saw the size are the same of the 4 tires but the rim is diffrent looks like hondas rims lol

MICHELIN Pilot Sport A/S pulling to the right
I guess I will go with the regular MICHELIN Pilot Sport series tires on my 17" rims.
I live in Sunny Southern California so those should work just fine.
Problem is everyone I've checked with in SoCal has these on back-order.... TIRE RACK where are you ?

If the All-Season (A/S) Pilots are not covered by MB warranty,
and they seem to be pulling Benzos to the right, but not other cars, then wouldn't it be the car's fault not the tire ?
I guess my next question would be what is the advantages/disadvantages of Pilot Sport and Pilot Sport 2 tires?
Which is recommended for Southern California (mostly dry) driving?

Will these tires fit rear wheels on 2005 C230k?
Can I replace the 245/40-17 tires with 235/45-17 tires on the 2005 C230k, and will I still be ok with leaving the fronts at 225/45-17?
I have just found the 245/40-17 to be rather limited in tire options, but the 235's seem to have a lot more choices.

Which new tires to get when nearing end of lease?
My lease is up in a few months, but I need new tires. What's a good value all weather tire that will be ok to drive for a few months, then give back to the dealer?

Is this before any threat of winter there? If so, get the cheapest, biggest POS tires that you can at your local tire place, and deal with them until you turn your car in. No need to give the dealer any more money than the minimum.

Any POS tire will last 7 months. It's hard to give any recommendations, since you're still not giving the full story.
What I would do: run your current tires to the wearbars, or the first threat of snow. Replace with cheapest all seasons. Don't drive like an idiot the rest of the lease. Turn in car. Thank myself for not wasting any money. Buy next time so that I don't have to go through this again.
As far as which particular tire, tirerack has a very good ratings database to help you decide, if you want any criteria other than price.

Call the dealer and get the lease turn-in checklist. You may put substandard tires that are not acceptable to the leasing company and you'll have to buy 4 new ones again. It's not your car, it belongs to the leasing company, if they say the car came with Michellin Pilot Sports, a $200 tire, and you put in a $50 tire you maybe liable for a set of new set. This is payback time for getting the lower monthly payment.... Of course if you lease a new car from them they will find a way to hide this in your new lease payment so you won't have to worry until that lease expires.

Getting a check list up front is not a bad idea, so there are no other surprises, but your lease contract should spell out what is acceptable.
On the tires, go for a good balance of cost and function. You have to drive the car in the winter, and you have to be comfortable driving it.
