Replaced the turn signal (combination) switch and did not set the angle censor.
While taking everything apart the clock spring came apart and I had to wind the cable ribbon back in (not sure if I did it right) but I then took the steering angle off With out knowing that you should not turn the middle knob . So when I was done and put everything back on the ESP vist workshop came on. So I did some research and found out the steering angle needs to be set as well as the clock spring....... But I was not able to find out how to do so. Can anyone help with this?
Tried this but did not work

Jerzey, if all is assembled correctly all you need to do is start your car and turn the steering lock to lock and the light will go out, if not, you have not assembled properly.

Yea I did do the lock to lock 5 times. Problem is I guess I installed the clock spring and or the angle censor wrong. Is there a DIY for them because I am unable to find one thank you

the steering angle will cause the ESP lamp fault. the clock spring cable will cause the SRS lamp to burn. there are markings on the assembly showing it should only be striped with the wheels in the straight ahead position.
take a look at the tabs on the steering angle sensor that one is not perhaps damaged or a piece missing. and everything must fit together effortlessly no tension anywhere.

2000 clk 320 cabriolet
Are these instructions also applicable for the W208? I need to replace the combination switch in my 2000 CLK 320 cab. I see instructions with pics on the W208 forum, but the instructions only go to the point of steering wheel removal and replacement - not beyond the clockspring removal and replacement.
I don't wish to hijack, and perhaps you can PM or email me with a response in order to keep this thread uncluttered.
Thanks. GR

"The STAR Service DVD from MB (P-2700-203-07) says if you remove it, to set the basic position you spin it counter clockwise (I think, need to check!) till it feels a little snug, then turn it clockwise 3-3.5 times."

Jerzey,
Did you find a solution? I tried replacing my combi switch on my W209-AMG but couldn't finish. Got as far as removing this clock-spring and sensor to find out there's another sealed cover with a tinny tiny torx bit I don't have so I stopped before causing terminal damage. Anyway when pulling the clock-spring off the column there was a long connector attached that got a little twisted. I straightened the best I could and put all back together. Now the SRS and ESP lights are on and the wheel feels a little stiff when turning side-side. I'll try resetting ESP with lock to lock thing in the morning but the stiff feel seems like the spring is out of alignment.
I may just take this to the Dealer and cough up the cash...
