In the bi-xenon headlights the high beam bulbs are still H7 halogens. However, there is a plate in front of the xenon projector which moves when the high beams are activated changing the beam pattern of the projector.

no, lynn is right, you have regular halogen bulbs as well. xenons cannot be flashed on and off like halogens, they are either full on or full off, which is why drl when using xenon bulbs are full intensity. when you turn on your high beam, not flash but actually on, both the halogens come on, and the plate changes it's angle to allow more light out from the xenon bulbs.

in the older benzes, the xenons weren't projector style.

Lynn, check your PM.

It has nothing to do with this xenon discussion, but I figure you'll see this here.

personally I think headlamp washers suck...of course I'm not in the snow, but all they do is make a mess on your car...if you don't wipe the lens it will not get clean.

no I don't have them but my buddy with a 330i does and he gets pissed off when he accidently hits the headlamp washer switch

The Bi-Xenons on a Benz still use a Halogen Hi-beam to supplemment the Xenon reflector moving. I have them and the Halogen Hi-Beam still comes on with the reflector move as well. As for the washers, they clean nicely but also annoy you by allowing the spray to run up the hood and fenders. This bothers me because the soap added to the washer fluid then drys on the hood and front fenders. Very messy indeed.

every single mercedes BI Xenon headlight has 1 single Xenon bulb...the bi part in the bi xenon name refers to a plate in the projector (like Lynn said) that flips down when high beam is activated (together with a halogen bulb that comes on...

Thanks for the info. I always wondered why bi-xenons still had a halogen bulb. Question, why don't the just run the H-7 high beam at half power for DTL like GM does?

because the xenons at full power, use less power for DRL than halogens. halogens in DRL run at something like 67%, so the wattage on a 55w is about 37w, versus the 35 xenon. and the xenon is brighter.

Question place in seattle to change the setting for xenon

Hi
I have a problem about finding the place to switch the setting to Xenon. I already tried to barrier motors but they didn't want it.
Is there anybody know where the place that want to switch the setting?

Hi harianto_adi,

I live in Bothell and my dealer is Barrier, to be honest they totally suck. Try the Phill Smart dealer downtown, I've heard good things about them. Also when you find out could you let me know how they were? I would like to have them change my das settings.

I can't vouch for Phil Smart's service yet but I can vouch for their sales staff. I just bought a C230K sedan from them on Saturday. The sales staff at the airport location are friendly and knowledgable. The atmosphere is casual and the location is easy to access. All-in-all it was one of the best car buying experiences I've ever had.

I've been to Barrier three times and each time I left shaking my head. They weren't too friendly with me and they acted like they didn't want to sell me a car. I guess that I don't look like I have money or something. Oh well for them.

Artw,
What options did you get on your C230 Sedan? Did you get a good price? I ordered mine a few weeks ago at Barrier with C2, C3, C4, auto, heated seats, CD changer and Bose upgrade and got it for $500 over cost! I hope you got a good deal!
