Hi,

Sorry, I'm new here. I would like to order the Bi-xenon for the new C-class as well... This is the same exact set as used in the new C32, is it? How much is the price? And can I have it shipped to Asia (plus shipping costs covered)?

Please let me know, thank you very much!

I paid 1000 for the pair and i will install them myself. If you went to the dealer, some are charging as much as 1200 per assembly and then installation is extra.
Damned stealers!

There isn't a single after market kit that can beat the OEM xenon headlight assembly (regardless whether that OEM xenon headlight is oldstyle or newstyle bi xenon).
A headlight that is designed for a halogen bulb has a reflector and lens that work well together with that halogen bulb...putting in a xenon bulb results in a disorted lightpattern (although many people settle for that inferior lightpattern and don't really mind).

Lightbulb

I went to MB of Manhattan a factory owned dealer with no markup today.

The official price for the Bi-Xenon headlamps is $945 USD per side.
Adding tax brings the grand total for both lamps to $2045.92.

Thanks for the savings Steve!

How come the C-Coupe lights are so hard to get?

Does anyone who works for a dealer know how much the dealer pays for a set?

Question Bi-Xenon lighting

I've searched the forum on detailed information on these but was unable to find any and the mercedes website gives little info. I am just curious as to what bi-xenons do that separates them from other lights (info on features, etc. would be helpful). Also are there any color mods you can do to these lights such as the colored lenses you can put on the bmw's angel eyes.

Xenon headlamps use xenon gas and metallic salts to create light. An electrically generated arc replaces the filament used in conventional light bulbs. The start-up voltage of up to 28,000 V is supplied by an electronic ballast module fitted on the headlamp housings. This technology produces twice the light output of a halogen bulb, has five times the lifespan and consumes 30 per cent less power. This results in much more effective and brighter illumination of the road and road margins, while using only 35 watts. Bi-xenon headlamps are a xenon headlamp which uses a single xenon lamp to produce both the high beam and the low beam. The full light beam is used to produce the high beam, while the low beam is produced by moving a shutter between the bulb and the lens, thus blocking off a portion of the light.

Price.

They're almost CAD $1,500 as an option on the C230K. Xenons may last 5 times longer than halogens but that doesn't come close to repaying the price difference. The M-B brochure says cars equipped with bixenons run the low beams at full intensity for the daytime running lights so they're in use all the time.

Is this true or can it be turned off like the stock coupes?

Is this true ...
It's true the brochure says this. I assume what it says is true too.

I'm in Canada where drls are required. It's possible this equipment spec is different here than in places where drls aren't mandatory.

... or can it be turned off like the stock coupes?
Whether drls can be disabled likely depends on the law. It might be possible to use alternative lights, like fogs, but only an M-B tech would know.
