Changing the headlight on our beloved W203 to bi-xenons requires removing the bumper, removing the headlights, installing the new headlights & bumper and getting the dealer to reprogram the ECU for xenons.

Bumper removal instructions are on my website or search the forum, once you get the bumper off, the headlight removal should be obvious. Good luck! Someone posted pics on one of these MB forums but I don't know how much they'll help.

05 Bi-Xenon pointing down after service

Just got my car out the dealership on Thursday after they fixed my alignment since the car was shifting slightly to the right. (noticed this in other 05's I've driven so far - got 3 other friends with same car).

But earlier tonight, when I switched on my bi-xenons , I noticed the lights were pointing down? I would say it is pointing about 10feet in front of the car max. I can't even see the street signs illuminating anymore. Don't know if its just me or not but I really notice a BIG difference in my light spectrum. Does the car have some type of auto-sensor that adjusts the angle of the light?

This may sound weird, but could the bi-xenons be tied to when they re-aligned my car, they may have thrown off the auto-sensors that adjust the angle somehow?

I had the same problem after the alternator was replaced. To fix them temperarely you can disconnect the Sway bar sensor on the passenger side sway bar. That is what the MB Tech and I figured out when I called the 1-800 roadside number. They sent a tech to my house on Christmas Eve day. Then it went to the shop to be fixed the next week.

that happened to me when they changed the strut arm on my car last time. Some sensor's off. Took it to the dealer and they'll fix it.

The auto-levelling sensors are clamped to the sway bars front and rear. If they are re-tightened in the wrong position they send out the message that "level" is, well, not level.

do they level individually or simultaneously? I'm still having a problem where one side seems more yellowish than the other. they changed the bulb, and it's still the same...

For those of you who have the Bi-Xenon Headlights:

Do your high beams shine blueish tint like the low beams? For some reason my low beams are blue xenons, but the high beams seem to be a yellowish xenon???? what gives???

Part of the blueish tint on your bi-xenon caused by the distance between the light bulb and the glare shield. The close the shield to the bulb, it will changed how the light is being refract. When you are on high beam, the motor within the headlamp flip the shield up to allow more light to pass through.

There is only one Xenon bulb in each lighting unit which works for both high and low beams.

To add to Sunman's comment the C Class Bi-Xenons also have a halogen High beam as well in the City Light Housing. So the shield raises allowing all the light to pass from the Bi-X reflector and the Halogen High Beam turns on as well.

So in reality, there is only ONE xenon bulb per side on a BI-XENON setup??

Just change the halogen high beam bulb to crystal vision, it will match the xenon colour.

Just like everybody else has posted, the bi-xenon is actually only 1 bulb with a reflective shield that changes the angle of which light is being reflected.

Your actual "high beam" is a halogen bulb. I believe it's a H7 bulb, but I can't remember. I changed mine out the day I got my car because my cousin had an extra set of NOKYA (Arctic White) bulbs that matched perfect.

The reason for the halogen bulb is that HID lights are basically bulbs that ommit, in essence, a gas explosion when the headlights are turned on. For this reason, it is not practical to have seperate HID "high beams" because if you are using the "flash" function the HID high beams would have to ignite every time you "flash" the high beams. I know people who have converted their high beams to HID on other cars, but did it more just for fun than for "pratical reasons".

This is actually why I LOVE the bi-xenon set up on our C Class! It bridges the gap between praticality/functionality and looks!

Here's another thread that was started a few months back about this topic:

It refers to its functionality rather than bulb count. The "old" Xenon lamps used Xenons for the low beam and halogens for the high beam, whereas Bi-Xenons use the same Xenon bulb for both.

Yep the halogen is there for the flash feature. Also blends the HID's into the darkness much better for high beam. No cut off line like on the low beam side.
