The stock lenses do this as well. It's not an airtight seal between the lens edge and bumper. I noticed this the first time I washed my car and saw soap bubbles behind the lens edge. As you say the area drys up pretty quickly.

anyone who has installed the clear side marker. can you tell me if there is a screw that you need to unscrew before you can pop the OEM lense out?

No screws. You can do it all (although a bit painfully) with just your hands and nails, but I'd suggest as a previous posted said, use a thin flathead to pop the pins in the wheel well out instead of using your finger nails.

someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think people are giving false information here. this is not that easy. popping the pins out is easy, pulling the lining out is easy. then, it stops there.. how do you get the lense out???

Remove the bulb by twisting, then press down fully the tab, then just keep twisting and moving the whole thing. Eventually it'll fully line up and slide right out. It's a ***** sometimes and takes patience. There are NO screws holding it down. Just look at the housing and lens unit on the clear ones and you'll see how it works.

That part is not a screw, it's just an empty cylinder. The housing unit and the lens unit each have that cylinder with the one on the lens smaller to slide into the housing one. Once again, you should be able to see this on the clear ones you ordered as it should have came with the housing unit as well. Take the clear ones you ordered and remove the housing unit from it and you can see how it works.

edit: ok, didn't see the linked pic...hmmm, that actually does look like a screw. Is the C350 housing unit different than the C300???

i see the screw as well and when lookin at the clear lense it looks like that screw could be holding the lenses in and preventing it from being unclipped...maybe just a some cars have the screw i dunno...AZN did u notice that screw in the back of the housing???

I can only confirm the C300 US models. They do NOT require removing any screws. I noticed you guys have C350 models, so unless they changed the housing between the two models...

See if you can get a cleaner picture. Does it feel different? Plastic vs metal? That's stupid if they went out and produced different housing units between C300 and C350 as it'd be two different production lines, but who knows.

sorry... that's the best pictures i could take. that part is metal for sure... it is very possible that the amber lense has the threaded holes for the screws.

Ok, it's confirmed... there is a 6 lobe (star) screw that's holding the OEM amber lense onto the bumper. You need to get a 6 star recess driver small enough to get in there to unscrew the screws.
I just installed them. pain in the AXXXXXXXX!!!!!!

I had no screw. There is a place for it though. Looks like it holds the signal unit to the cup/ housing that goes behind the fender to keep it snug.

it is very possible that different models (C300, C350, sport, luxury) or even just different lot of cars or different manufacturing locations have different installation methods. We clearly have ones with screws and ones without now.

Hey! all of you Guys!!! I did change my bumper side marker with a smoke one couple of months ago with my (C 300),,... You need to unscrew the housing unit there using a TORX screw tip..It took me almost an hour to change the two markers... Somebody posted here that it took only 10 mins...not true to me...the hardest part is to fit the housing and lense back firmly in the bumper..Men, i was sweating!.....check my prevoius thread with my Pics!

It did only take 10 min. I was the first one to do it. Did you read the first post in this, my, thread? Some of us had the screws (recently) and some did not.

I have an 08 C300 and THERE WAS DEFINITELY a screw. Torx bit. Was a pain in the a** to remove because I wasn't looking for it. Spent like 30 minutes almost breaking my bumper before I realized I needed to take the screw off.

The screw definitely helps lock it in place, looks like everyone who doesn't have a screw had someone dozing off at the factory! jk
