Exclamation Flush free door pins...FINALLY!!!

ok so after looking online and buying door pins that dont sit flush because MB decided they would design the top part of the door at an angle and since no one seems to be making door pins specifically for this door including the dealer (AMG pins or the Brabus dont sit flush either...close but not flush) i decided to take matters into my own hands...im sure someone here has done this prior to me but i did a search and didnt find anything...

it took all of ten min including paint drying time and best of all it was free...let me know what you guys think!

Pretty cool idea. Did you just cut it and paint over it?

Cool. That's one way of dealing with the door pins!

Yeah just cut and used a dremel to smooth it out and set the angle, painted it and called it a day.

Great mod, I just might do this! Note, the front ones twist off, the rear ones don't In order to replace the rear ones you need to take the door panel off. But this mod doesn't have to be done to the rear ones, they are far up front and out of the way. It just might look a bit weird having two different door pins.

Thanks...the rears just popped off(literally popped off) so i did those too...didnt need to take the door apart at all one thing though...when i put them back on they wouldnt stay on they would come out really easy so i used a drop of glue to keep them on and that was that...i was actually considering capping them like one of the members did ( https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...installed.html ) but i like how they all look exactly the same now.

I have the AMG door pins but haven't installed them yet. I went to try to unscrew the front door pins and they just kept twisting, not feeling like they were unscrewing at all, more of a little pop at the end of each rotation...do I just have to keep working these things???

Another door modification

If I remove the front door pins can I cut at the base to make them shorter, so that they fit flush when the door is locked, or do I need to cut the top off, as in the OP of this thread?

thats how i did it...use a razor for the initial cut and then use a dremel or a fine file to smooth out the edges
