PSA the valentine cigarette lighter plug does not work in the c450s the plug doesnt go down far enough to reach the center connector which means that you have to either hard wire it or buy a Y adapter from somewhere and use that

I think the new E Class looks fine on the outside (C450 looks better of course, but I prefer a sportier look)...but what I am hoping for the most is that they put that type of dash into the 2017 C450's.

Speaking of the 2017's, any speculations on when MY17 C450's will be releasing this year? I'm planning to pick up a C450 this summer and figure at that point I might as well just wait for the 2017's.

If they follow the traditional release dates, the 2017 C450 will start production in late August, early September, with deliveries soon after.

pretty sure they will NOT be putting that dash in the 2017 C450, or any 2017 C for that matter.

That is super disappointing to hear, I was hoping to not have to deal with the iPad-glued-to-the-dash look in my new ride...but I guess I will just have to deal with it.

Could you even fathom the amount of vitriol MB would get if they decided just 1/2 year later to give the C450 or any C Class the E dashboard? Maybe 2018 FL will bring some changes to the infotainment as you see that now the new A4 has an all digital screen. I think MB dropped the ball with not making that option in the new C and beating Audi to the punch.

I'm not disappointed that the C doesn't have the all electronic gauges and yes, I even really like the, as you call it, iPad-glued-to-the-dash look. The 8.4" screen in my car looks very nice to me and is placed perfectly for viewing. My boss has a 2015 S550, and everytime he's in my car he comments how much he wishes he had a dash more like the C. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

To be honest, I don't follow cars much at all but I had always assumed that each MY brought changes with it to entice the consumer to buy it rather than the prior years model...seems kind of silly to me to just keep the same thing over again, why not continuously improve? If someone purchased a '16 and ends up being pissed that a '17 came with something different, well, they should've waited for the '17 then (IMO). But then you get into a vicious cycle where you're always waiting. At some point you have to pull the trigger and come to terms with the fact that in less than a year a new model will be out with more bells and whistles than you have. That's being a consumer.

Absolutely, everyone has their own tastes. I don't hate it by any means, I just think the S Class/new E Class dash looks much cleaner. Other than that I find the C450 interior to be absolutely perfect. Still a 9/10 even with the glued iPad look

To be honest. There is 2 sides to what looks good.
I hate the new audi look. It looks like a retro 1980's car to me inside.
I would think they are quite happy with offering a little of both worlds.

Just my 2 xD

Correct. No aesthetic changes to the C-Class for 2017, and I wouldn't expected the COMMAND screen design to change in the eventual 2018 or 2019 facelift, either.

So, after a few trial and error, I finally found a set of 18" rims that fit the C450. Attached are a few photos, wrapped in Michelin X-ice winter tires. As shown in the photo, I've installed an AMG badge in place of the C450, I really don't care if I offend any of the guys with the "real AMG"

I mean you never know, the 2010 W204 had a pop up screen that was redesigned when they spruced up the interior and the pop up was replaced with a stationary screen.

Of course, with the release of the E class interior pictures people are quite upset with the design of the screens. Luckily for them it is only an option and not forced. Same thing with the A4 I believe it is an option and not standard.

Absolutely right the change from the MY2015 W205 to MY2016 brought Comand updates, 5 years free MBrace with remote start, and black lenses on the mirror housing. Expect the 2017 to have other minimal changes as they nip and tuck. For many yes the idea of waiting for the next model makes no sense and many don't bother keeping up with cars or when they will be released. However a well informed buyer will wait to see what the next model will bring before plunking down money on the current gen depending on the timing of the new model.

I mean this is a direct quote from you "Speaking of the 2017's, any speculations on when MY17 C450's will be releasing this year? I'm planning to pick up a C450 this summer and figure at that point I might as well just wait for the 2017's."

If we told you the 2017 model will be totally redesigned will you rush to put a deposit down on a 2016 model this Summer a month or two before a redesign is released? Probably not.

Apologies if I was unclear, I 100% understand MB's logic from a profitability/revenue standpoint where they would cannibalize current sales by announcing massive overhauls each year...I was just under the impression that a few things would be changed annually to entice the customers to pay more for the new model rather than waiting to buy the old model at a discount. Personally, assuming there are no notable changes, I will just wait for the 2016 models to be deeply discounted as the 2017's get close to production and release and I will pick a 2016 up then. Still, even if there were material changes being made there are many buyers, as you said, who won't even know when the 2017's are scheduled to come out or what the difference might be (and some that simply wouldn't care)...moreover, many consumers are very compulsive, and would buy a 2016 now just because they get caught in the moment at the dealership and want it now rather than waiting 8 or 9 months. Also, there are lease expirations that drive business at a cadence for MB.

There are going to be trade offs in every scenario for both the consumer and MB...

The way I look at altering badging is, only people who are INTO cars will notice as most common people don't know or care what AMG, M, RS, S, etc. even stand for. Therefore people who are INTO cars notice it isn't an AMG. You're not offending anyone with a true AMG car.

Like when I see a 320i with M3 badges, a normal common person will not notice or care to notice the badge and only see that it's a BMW. Someone like me who is an enthusiast will notice it and realize it's a fake and laugh at them.

People can do as they please though, I've seen Mercedes cars with M badges and BMW's with AMG badges, I really don't care what people choose to spend their money on. Also on BMW's M Sport packaged cars while you won't find an M on the back you will find no less than at least 10 M badges pepped throughout the interior and exterior in various places.

Based on that review, my choice would be the Merc over the Bimmer. I doubt in real life driving 2/10 of a second would be noticeable and I much prefer the interior and exterior of the MB over the MBW. But maybe that's just me. I'm a MB Fanboi and always have been. Even when I strayed and bought a 335i Hardtop convertible, I missed the feel of Mercedes.
