I am unsure whether to get 18" rims + tires for the winter, total cost probably $1,200 (Blizzak WS80 + MSW Type 86 rims) or so, or to just take my existing four and get just all season or winter tires, cost probably $800 or so.

Can anyone offer me some advice here? Also curious about having to fork out for a whole other set of TPMS or just re-use existing ones?
For me, it's an easy decision. My car is coming with 19" summers as well, and I have already ordered 18" wheels and dedicated winter tires. I went for Michelin x-ice, but you also can't go wrong with the Blizzaks. All season tires (no season) is a compromise that I don't think is worth it under any condition, dedicated winters and summers give you the best of both worlds

Thanks for that. Given that I'm leasing, do you think it's worth the few extra hundred bucks to just get hte rims and tires or just get the tires?

Also I am concerned with having to carry a spare, are your Michelin X-Ice runflats?

Get the 18' rims and tires man, and here's why. If you buy tires only, you have the hassle and expense of changing tires on rims twice per year, plus running the risk of tire or rim damage each time. 19" tires are more expensive, so savings minimal, and also, it's always recommended to go one size down (18" in this case) for winter tires

That's great, however I'd like to see photos of more than two configurations, neither of which are Polar White with the night package I'm interested in.
So if you've got your new C450, but haven't posted your photos, now is a great chance!
Thanks!

Auto, Have you installed the winter tire package? I opted for the Pirelli Sotto Zero II run flats w/ 18x8 TireRack rims (225/45 R18 - Front AND 245/40 R18 -Rear). The TireRack website/personnel indicated that they should work even though the OEM 18" rim is a slightly different size (refer to Vipers post #1526).

On Saturday, I had my local mechanic attempt to install the winter package. The TireRack 18x8 rims fit the the back wheels fine but the the fronts interfered with the steering knuckle. TireRack engineering guru will call me back on Monday. I think my best option is purchase the ~$3K M-B OEM rims since I plan on keeping the car at least 10 years. I definitely do not want to add a spacer to the fronts with the TireRack rims and prefer not to change-out my summer tires with the Pirelli Sottozero III non-run flat tire on the 19" rims. I would not keep a spare since the fronts and rear rims/tires are different sizes. Ughh!!

Is anyone aware of a modestly priced rim manufacture that will fit the staggered dimension of the C450?

Sorry to hear about the wheels not fitting. I am not sure how TR determines what fits. What were your offsets? TR shows a number of 18x8 wheels with 45mm offsets even though it is quite a bit higher than the oem 33. Autopal posted he ordered Enkei EKM3. They come with both 35 & 45mm offsets. Hopefully, he can post his experience and what offsets.

I plan on getting 18" rims with offsets around 35mm for the front. It is still no guarantee they will fit. The style/design also comes into play. I will also go with a spare (and a slime kit). The compact spare would go on the back wheels, so if a flat in front you need to do 2 changes.

The rim I selected from TR was MODA MD 18 with a 45 mm offset. I will hear what TR suggests on Monday and I will keep you posted but it looks like M-B parts department here I come. I can hear the cha ching of the cash register.

Damn... with the TR wheels not fitting, that screws up the whole belief system. I assumed their "How We Know What Fits" was accurate. I wonder if they just took their C400 list and used it for the 450?

It would be nice to get an accurate list of wheels that fit, for anyone that wants to go that route.

Is anyone bothered by the placeholder button that was supposed to ventilate the seats?

I think that TR copied the same data for the C400. I am guessing the Brembo brakes are screwing-up the fit. The 18" OEM 5 star rim is definitely an odd with 18x7.5 in the front and 18x8.5 in the rear with odd offsets.

I can't comment on fit as yet, as it's still another 2 weeks before I get my car. I ordered tires early because 1010tires had early special prices on winter tires and free delivery in Canada. They, however, said the rim manufacturer confirmed that the rims will fit just fine. I will see, as they also have fitness guarantee. Here is my order

Dang, 8 rims and 8 tires. Keep us posted if they fit.

My Moda 18x8 with 45 offsets did not work too well with TireRack but they appear anxious to fix the problem. I am curious if TR can locate 18x8 rims with 35 offsets for the front and 18x8 45 offset for the rears. I will keep y'all posted.

Question for the Canadian buyers. I have been trying to read through this thread but with so many pages I may haved missed it. What are you paying? Above Msrp or below? I am not in a rush to make a deal as would rather wait until spring but wondering how things are panning out on pricing as i don't want to pay a markup on any car ever.

Thanks

I will keep you posted on how TR plans on resolving the issue; as well as, the cost of the OEM rims if I decide to go that route.

The other OEM option would be the C63's 18" wheel. It would definitely fit:

You might be able to find these in the classified forums (being sold by a C63 owner that was planning a custom wheel).

Looking forward to what you hear back, I've already decided to go for the Designo seats so not sure how much more I want to spend...but depending on the price it might be a decision worth deliberating.

Either of the two seat choices can be designo (AMG Sport seats and the 555 AMG Performance seats). The performance seats; however, cannot be vented (regardless of the venting supply issues).

Two things.. For the Canadian who asked on pricing, I'm buying this week and so far the best I've seen is 2700 below MSRP. I'm thinking 3k is doable. Will report back when I close my deal

Secondly, for whatever reason I'm agonizing over color. I love the contrast with the pano roof and the cranberry interior and those 19th multi-color wheels.

Normally I'd just go white here but my last car was white. It does look killer though.

I'm thinking Iridium but I can't for the life of me find any pictures of this combo, especially with with the doors open from the outside to see how the red/silver work together. Anyone have any or have seen any? I've scoured autotrader but few 450 pics so far and none like this.

Cheers,

Pete

Ok I called my sales guy. He said it was part of the interior package and was not showing in the system as a separate item or in the system at all as of now.
