But it's nice to see the piggyback works on the C450.

Not sure but it's worth shooting them (DINAN)an email to ask if they are developing something. Worst they could say is not at this time. You can still buy from BMS, they are reputable and support their products. I'm just saying it's not being developed further and will stay in beta (if that matters to you). I feel like many of these piggybacks are essentially the same, once the genie is out of the bottle other companies just make their own versions.

I don't see any MB piggybacks on the Dinan page, but BMS still has the W205 4 and 6 cyl tunes listed.

Do you have a link to the Dinan piggyback?

I love the Dinan unit on my 300, but I don't think they have released it for the 450 yet?. I believe as a previous poster mentioned, they are still looking for a car unless that has changed?

Anyone have a really good windshield sunshade that they'd recommend? Looking for something that fits our cars really well. So far, this is the only one I'm aware of: http://www.weathertech.com/mercedes-...tyle-us/sedan/ Anyone use one of those and care to comment? Thanks.

I just got one of those cheapo's from auto zone. it's two pieces that folds into a little ~10" diameter circle and tucks nicely out of the way between the seat and center console.

This is a question for C450 owners that are former BMW owners like myself. Do you guys have any regrets leaving BMW for Mercedes?

I "left" Audi for Mercedes. I actually sold my last audi back in 2011ish and had a boring old nissan as I was tired of wasting money on my "race car".

Looked into getting back into Audi when the maxima's transmission went out and needed a car but the current supercharged B8 generation S4 didn't really excite me. I most likely would have gone with the new gen that is coming out this year. But now that I have the 450, no regrets whatsoever. LOVE this car. I smile from ear to ear sitting in it, touching it, looking at it, hearing it, everything.

It's been a while since I've enjoyed a car so I might be a little bit school boy excited right now to answer that and be 100% objective lol

I also looked real hard at the new 340i xdrive Msport and 440i gran coupe xdrive msport. The 450 was the obvious choice still.

My previous car was a 2009 335i. I bought it new, and actually loved the thing. I left BMW for the 450, primarily because the BMW interior was getting a little stale, (even though I liked the exterior more than the Benz) and I really liked the upscale look of the C450 interior, except the steering column shifter, which I HATE more every day!!. I don't know which car is faster, and it's not important, because they are both rapid, but I have to say, I kinda miss the straight 6, and sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten the 340xi. I'm not sure what it is, but there's just something about the straight 6 that i miss badly. I dunno man, maybe if I had to do it over today, I would get the 340xi. The quality of the materials in the C450 is definitely superior, but that's about it. I must be crazy, so feel free to call me stupid, but I have to say, I do have regrets

Didn't own a 340i M Sport but drove one for 4 days.
It didn't feel special to me. The motor is a gem. Interior and safety tech weren't as good.

Yes, just didn't feel special to me either. Loved the transmission and the motor obviously wasn't a slouch.

What was really hanging me up about the MB was the shifter. I HATED the thought of it. It was hard enough to convince myself to grow up and go with these new smooth autos, but man, did I NOT want to give up the last little bit of manual these cars had (a center console stick).

But I have grown to love it more and more every day. The ergonomics of it are amazing once you get used to it and let go of the stick. Shifting on the fly is so smooth I know exactly where to put my hands while turning and backing up so it shifts into D perfectly. And it frees up the center console for better purposes and doesn't waste it on some fake shifter stick.

I'm afraid to go back to anything else, honestly.

Oh man, that's a tough spot to be in. I once regretted trading my S500 on an Audi lease and hated it so bad I gave the new Audi to my wife and traded her car on a 10 year old S430. Happy as a clam with that deal. Same S500 I'd previously traded for a beautiful CLS, then turned around the next morning and traded back. (Dealer had a 3 day return policy).

An inline 6 is sexier than a V6. From my era, V6's started showing up in cars that used to get small block 8's and I've always viewed them as a compromise. But for whatever reason there's a purity about a straight six, especially the BMW sixes.

I recommend a series of expensive mods on the 450. That'll help.

"Expensive"?

I'm $1600 in and have 500+ft/lbs tq

I feel like that's a drop in the bucket compared to usual german car modding prices...

I'm not talking dollar amount or bang-for-the-buck necessarily. What I mean is that sometimes when you're uninspired by a new car, taking some extra steps to make it your own can make a big difference. If you feel more performance would do it, go that route. Cosmetic stuff, upgraded wheels, new audio. Whatever.

The AMR tune puts out some impressive numbers. They are showing 475hp and 525lbft, but I'm pretty sure these are adjusted with drivetrain loss added back.

I have the BMW Stage 1 Tune and I Went 12.6 @ 109 with the tune only. That's $300 for 1/2 a second in the Quarter. Stock C450 was going 13.1 @ 103 that same day I went. Not saying its best but not bad for $300 tune.

HP numbers means nothing...

off topic question - how do we get to the Comand screen shown in the video?
Since you asked, I've had the vivid piggyback for about 8 months. I don't have dyno numbers but there are two things I've noticed that matter to me. In the midrange there is a nice bump. Think of 10% more push and it's about right. It feels like the car should have been from the factory. If you want a holy cow moment, this won't give it to you. But it is nicer to drive as there is more power everywhere.

More important to me is that it really changes comfort mode. Because the car always starts in that mode, some mornings when going to work I'm too tired to care about sport +. That is, until I need power. Then I put my foot down and it feels like the C300. Even with the pedal mostly to the floor it just won't bring the power. So weak it drives me nuts. The Vivid piggyback really is SO much nicer to drive in comfort mode. The car is so driveable that it is easy to forget u r in that mode. 1/2 throttle really brings the power you would expect. It is not the same as sport + but it is MUCH better than standard comfort mode.

Anyhow, sorry I can't help on your dyno request but hopefully this helps at least a little.

Oh, one last thing. Every once in a while I put in some Lucas Oil octane boost (1/2 of a large bottle which says it will raise the octane 3 points). THAT, when coupled with the Vivid tune really, really makes the car jump. Yes, I know people are going to say not to do that, but it absolutely changes how much power the piggyback brings!
