C450 AMG Sport discussion only.
As expected the C450 is 5000 dollars more than a similarly configured C400.
For the pleasure you get magnetic suspension (instead of optional air), 10% more rear bias, slightly larger brakes and lots of AMG badges which you can delete for free. Same engine and transmission with an "AMG tune" which are both also available from Renntech for 2000 bucks with more power (12hp) and TQ (20lbs). You cant get vented seats anymore.
So I guess I just saved myself 3000 bucks for a faster car. BTW, no mention of Pilot SuperSport tires, as expected, since there are no available run flats.

If you haven't jumped the bridge yet, you might be able to get a C400 with a 5000 dollar discount and pile those 10,000 bucks for a better "tune", real sport rubber and lots of other goodies
Im fairly sure that it will be impossible to tell in any other situation. As everyone is aware the 400 will not rotate regardless how hard you push it even after adding 50 hp to it. If the 450 will wag its tail or slide, particularly after adding real sport rubber, it will be a surprise. As I said before, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 450. I'm sure its excellent but up to 10k bucks better than its predecessor.......NAHHHH
. Maybe 1k at best. Its like the Porsche optional clock on the 911 for 2000 dollars!
I beg you to keep out of this thread. Everyone gets you agenda, and as far as I can tell no one will agree. This thread is extremely helpful to those ordering and purchasing a C450. It has nothing to do with a C400, and to clutter it with your stuff and the responses that will surely come will ruin a great thread. Feel free to start a new one if need to discuss further.

That's big talk coming from a guy who's other car is a 2015 Acura MDX. Clearly when it comes to purchasing cars, you have a history of making poor choices. I know, its the wife's car or something. There are plenty of C400's collecting dust on the back lots of dealerships.
Here is the latest version of C450vsC400 differences document, just in case anyone wants to quantify the last C400 on the lot against waiting for a C450:

Granted, you have a lot more negotiating power with a C400 (if any are left, there are none at the ~6 M-B dealers in my area) but M-B definitely built more value into the MSRP of the C450, and transaction prices will always be higher on the new-hotness versus a discontinued model.
On a side note, my car arrives within 15 days!
235 PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist $970
It is definitely part of the ordering system, as of today (and I am not talking about the updated configurator, it's in the ordering system that was used to produce your original PO#).

My dealer called the build process manager to see if there was anyway to add it now (I think he did it just to see what response he would get - neither of us thought there was any hope of actually getting it added)... the answer was Obama himself would have to order another vehicle at this point
It seems to come up as inventory for every dealer that I look at through MBUSA.

But the price differential is true my fully loaded c400, every thing except fart disguiser was 62k. If you add the tune its still a 3k difference plus you wouldnt expect the manufacturer to add any price for simply giving you a different engine and transmission "mapping". A fully equipped C450 without the fancy seats is 67. They jacked up the price, a lot. Whether the magnetic shocks are worth a 5k premium over the airbags is highly suspect. Ive had magnetorheologic dampers before (on an Acura) they were indeed better than the "standard" at the time, however, I did buy the next model of the same vehicle which didnt offer ferrofluid shocks and the new car handles just as well as the one with the variable shocks. The airbags on the C class work quite well though you cant ratchet them to butt pounding levels. Id love to see an actual test head to head to see mags vs bags offer any quantifiable advantages.
