Is there a service bulletin for the window felts? I was able to get the acoustic side glass retrofitted but if the felts help with noise I would like to pursue them.

'typo' not 'hypo' and that is 'noice' and should read 'noise'

Did you have the insulation parts listed on your service?

I know. I was joking. That's why I wrote hypo instead of typo. Jeez.

brought my car in for 30k service, complained about a whistling noise coming from front windshield in front of instrument cluster at highway speeds. got a text from my SA this morning saying they are going to start with the side windows so i assume im getting the double pane glass? doesnt make any sense to me since that is definitely NOT where the sound is coming from..

That IS the nature of sound deadening projects

Once you conquer the loudest sound, the next-quietest sound below that becomes the loudest sound you hear.

Once your engine is silent and your car is squeak free, (tesla maybe) youll hear other peoples tires, the wind, and your own breathing lol

Im going to ask about this! thanks guys. Would love it to be quieter, whether its a POS piece of tape or new windows!

Nice!

Downside for me is my windows are tinted, so I would have to get them re-done...

Took mine to the dealer for the second time. The foreman test drove it with me and said it's a non-issue, they all sound like that. When I asked him if it's a design flaw, he said could be, but nothing can be done about it. He said if it was an actual 'whistling' then they would have addressed it. He told the service advisor the noise is from the 'wind hitting the car'.

I guess I'll have to live with it. The CLA loaner they gave me was much louder, so maybe this is a MB trademark.

I still love my car.

When I asked my dealer about the car being noisy, they offered to do the acoustic glass and the felt insulation without any further prompting. It's all about your dealer and how responsive they are to customer complaints.

Did your dealer have a service bulletin or other paperwork for the felt replacement?

Thanks,

Bill

I don't have the work sheet right now, but they definitely did have a service bulletin to work from.

It would sure be helpful if you could find the paperwork on the window felt replacement and post it. My dealer said he couldn't find anything on it.
Thanks,
Bill

I am taking in my C400 to get checked out for wind noise. I keep thinking my window is open a crack but it's not. Hopefully they can fix it. I drive without music 1/2 the time and it drives me nuts anytime I'm about 35mph.

funny is that if is raining noise is gone, I did complain about this sound and now I have to go at least 2 times for testing (first time to test and second time for glass changing) Question is, it is worth or no, guys?

Had wind noise issues from day 1 like most people describe like having window slightly cranked. Went in dealers over 3 times for various adjustments plus on first service. Showed dealership TSB and they agreed to change front windows to acoustic glass. Definitely quieter but still not 100% you probably just hear a different wind noise. On replacement they scratched chrome surround on both doors in exactly same place ! Agreed to replace but I did a deal to repair kerb rash on two tyres incl a loaner for two days. Dealership have been excellent on first name terms now but all my colleagues think I am OCD regarding other issues with car but when you pay £40k for a car it's not acceptable to just ignore and I do a lot if driving

2016 C450 AMG
Hey guys! Figured I'd create an account so I could add my $0.02. My 2016 C450 (delivery in August '16) had the wind noise issue (and mildly squeaky brakes) from day 1. In the last couple months, it also developed the dreaded rough upshift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Alas, I was headed out of town on vacation a few weeks and decided to shoot my dealership a quick email to see if they could look into these things while I was away. No muss, no fuss - they installed the acoustic glass, replaced the brake pads, and updated the transmission software while I was gone. They even offered me a lift to the airport, and had the car waiting for me at my office when I landed. Couldn't have asked for better service!

The new glass certainly seems to have alleviated the wind noise issue, the brakes are silent, and the gear changes are now completely imperceptible. No charge from the dealership, and not the least bit of hassle about executing the repairs; no questions asked whatsoever. I'm a happy customer!

Hey yulc450amg,

Can you look at your work order sheet and see what the code number was for the transmission reflash?

I too had the rough 2nd to 3rd up shift issue with my C450, so I took it to the dealership where they did some sort of "reset". The issue went away for awhile, but now it's back.
