Can a MB c32/c55 beat an Acura NSX?

If so by how much? I was wondering about the power in that car versus MB

not in top speed...

from a rolling start maby...

from a dig... it would be close but a properly driven NSX will be hard to beat off the line..

gearing are really good for those cars and light...

stock for stock = nsx will win

I just got my a ss handed to me by I think a modded one while I was driving the wifey's stock S2000. I was just wondering cause I was thinking of getting that car or c32/c55, but The s2000/c32/c55 look more modern than that car.

You would definitely be able to kill it. I've done it w/ the C43, as well as my old 320hp WRX.. no problem.

Wow really!!!! This car that I just saw was really fast, but on the jump neither of us was pulling on the other. Then he just walked and quickly at that. So even a c43 would beat it? That is incredible. That's gotta suck then hugh. Guess I'm not buying that car.

My roomate has a red 93' with HRE's, headers, intake, and a few other things. Personally I think the car is all track. I mean of course excelleration is good as the car is light and powerful. However, I just think it's home is on the track where it can really shine. I think most would agree.

Around town I think a C55/C32 would be really close if not ahead. I mean I have followed him around town in my C43 on a "hot run" and wasn't really hammering my car to keep up. It's definitly faster than my C43...but not nearly enough to justify the cost of a honda.

To me it's like the 911/AMG debate. Both built for kinda different characteristics. Raw TRQ/HP in one, a balaced structure and mid/rear engine in the other.

All in all one of the more understated cars that I love. Even a 91' NSX still looks badass. Also in desperate need of a new design damn it!!!!

a c43 wont beat it. saying that, the nsx isnt a drag car.
any 55 (not ml or the n/a g, s, cl) will beat it by a couple of tenth, maybe 3 or 4, in the quarter AND the nsx needs perfect driving to achieve that.

Piece of SH*T
Yeah it is more of a track car but not that bad for drag strip either. I used to own one and my buddy currently owns one right now. If I could get another one I would..those things look sexy as hell

I beat a supercharged NSX with tons of mods.

The new ones are supposed to be pretty sick. v-8 or v-10. Here is a pic of the concept

With the power upgrade to 290HP, it would be a driver's race. The acceleration times are very similar between the C55 and NSX. The C32 may be just a touch behind (if you believe the magazine times).

From Road & Track:

2002 NSX/2005 C55/2003 C32
Curb Wt: 3100lb/3720lb/3650lb
HP: 290/362/349
Torque: 224@5500/376@4000/332@3000-4600
0-60: 5.0sec/5.0sec/5.1sec
0-100: 12.0sec/11.9sec/12.2sec
1/4 mile: 13.4sec@105.9mph/13.5sec@106.6mph/13.6@105.4
Skidpad: 0.91g/0.86g/0.83g
700ft Slalom speed: 65.8mph/67.6mph/67.0mph

The NSX is underpowered for its price by today's standards, but it is a potent track weapon. That is its greatest strength. The NSX-R did the Ring in 8.09 minutes, while the C55 took 8.22 minutes. The C32 did it in 8.37 minutes.

Wow these concepts look dead sexyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

I had no idea that the c55 and the c32 would be that close to this car though. That is amazing. I have heard of the cars tremendous track abilities and I have seen that video where there is a gallardo ferrari and an Nsx and a porsche racing and the nsx was quick as heck around the track. while the others would catch up on the straights.

these concept pics have been floating around for years.

the c55 is faster, the times that were posted were not gathered on the same day, maybe not even same location.
the nsx in that video is a type r, its lighter and eventhough they claim the engine is stock, ive heard rumors of those type r's putting out close to 350hp.
it is a great car, r or no r.
i was going to get1 instead of my clk, the dealer treated me like a kid d=so i said **** it.

Stock to stock, YES !!!! You will smoke the NSX anytime of the day... The NSX has a low torque and not much HP (< 300hp). But do not race an NSX on canyons and winding roads... You will eat the dust !!!!!

the nsx was developed in the late 80s. think about it... and it still pwns just about everything thrown it's way on handling.. it was meant to be agile and quick as a cat. if u want a dragster, pick something else.. i wouldn't be surprised if u did or didn't manage to beat it straightline.. either way, that car is awesome

The reason that the NSX has such low ponies is that Japan put a law into effect that limited HP to whatever the NSX has, something like 250ish. I guess because of their tight roads, they didn't want people racing around and killing each other. That law has been done away with as Japan has been trying to climb out of the most awful economy since the war. They simply can't play in the horsepower wars going on without help from their government, and this is in the best interest of their economy. Hope that was redundant enough for everyone.

PS

The NSX stock, (early model as horsepower climbed throughout the production), was about as quick as my old CLK430 Coupe. I raced several and they extremely slowly walked away. The track is a different story. Because they were so HP limited, they knew they had to make a car that handled and looked like a dream, and so did that with their engineering efforts. If the new HSC concept that was in the photos above, and in Gran Turismo 4, are any indication then this car is going to rock a$$. However, I am told that Ferrari is suing them for trade dress infringement because it looks so much like the Enzo.

Here are dynos of slightly modded (red - headers, exhaust and intake) and supercharged (blue - Eaton, 7 psi).

Stock cars are around 240HP/190TQ at the wheels. They are quick, but if driver misses the shift, upshifts to early or is the wrong gear - C32 will kill it.

To be quick, one has to drive it like they stole it.

Not to be a smartass, but there's no way that Ferrari will be suing them for trade dress infringement. That cause of action can be shot down with one word--FUNCTIONALITY. Trade dress cannot be functional. Hence, Ferrari probably has patents on the design and placement of the Enzo body which will immediately prove functionality and thus toss out any trade dress claim. They COULD get them possibly for patent infringement but there's always ways to get around that.

I don't think a lawsuit will hold for ****. There are soooo many arguments in Honda's favor (like the NSX is nowhere CLOSE to the Enzo's price range and is not in the same specialized market).

Too many to list
Fast or not, beating the C55/C32 or not, the NSX is still an exotic and I'll buy one in a heartbeat if I have the money. That car is just amazingly beautiful.

Dress infringement is no common thing these days. Just look at Kia and Hyundai; just about every car they make is a copycat of some other brand. Even MB's new ML looks like the Kia Sorento.

the c32/c55 is faster than a stock NSX in the straight line. nsx really has to ring every last bit out when racing c32/c55.

but, the nsx was not made for straightline speed, and is an awesome car for what it's made and designed for. the c32 and c55 are respectable for what they are also. the nsx is no doubt a superior car though.

I love the NSX, but I wouldn't buy one cuz I think it's overpriced for what it is...for today's standards at least.

just a simple question: would you spend $90k for a 290hp 6cyclinder Honda or $90k for a 355hp 6cyclinder Porsche?

Didn't read all of the posts, but the big question is "new NSX or old one"

I raced an old one on the freeway, and it was an ugly kill. I think I got a better run from a TL-S. I hear the newer ones are considerably faster, but have not run one yet. Ran a BMW 645 today from a dig. It was a pretty easy kill. . . probably 2-3 cars by the time I hit 2nd gear.

Actually no... the manufacturers only rated the horsepower at 280ps max, but in reality most of the Japanese flagship sports cars have always had more than 300hp from the factory. The older 3.0L NSX made 270hp because that's all they could get out of that motor at the time; it was never intentionally limited.
