heated seat

My driver's side heated seats don't work. When I push the button, no response and the red light does not come on. The passenger one works fine.
Any ideas other then checking fuses because I checked those. Bad relay?

Thanks guys!

I believe it's a known issue. Try searching because I have read about this a few times.

Yea the light on the heated seat button does not come on like it suppose to. Checked the fueses and they are fine, I even replaced the fuses just to make sure and still nothing. When I first noticed it the light did come on but the seat would not get warm

If the light does not come on then you have an open circuit. The connector under the seat (4 position connector) may be disconnected or the element inside the seat is bad.

Mine lights up but the seat won't heat. This is a known issue. I heard someone on here received a whole new drivers seat out of the deal. I have a laundry list of issues I'm taking with me to the dealer after the holidays. Thank god for extended warranty!

I also had this problem (switch lit up, but bottom part of seat didn't warm) and dealer replaced entire bottom seat under CPO warranty.

Was concerned that color of leather wouldn't exactly match up with seat back (which wasn't replaced) but it looks fine.

This was really the only problem with the car in my 18 months of ownership!

It is a common problem. It happened to me twice within a year.

sounds like a broken element on the bottom seat cushion. They will replace the leather but not the entire seat bottom. Foam and frame will remain the same. The leather has to be replaced since the element is integrated with the leather. However, since your seat buttons do not light up at all, then it sounds like a bad connection under the seat or behind the switch row.

Ya it's just a pain in the a** cuz everything seems to go like right after the factory warranty: my SC, IC pump, heated seat, steering wheel motor, connection to fuel pump all went. Although once I floor it I forget about all these problems

Spot on.

If out of warranty it's possible to use the separate element from a different model, which has the same connectors. Works out cheaper than buying the whole cover. I'll try to dig something out for you.

I have same problem with my driver side bottom seat. Hey Sunman, Can you take the heat element off the seat cover and then put it back or is it stitched to
the underneath side of the leather. Sounds like youve done a lot of work especially on the C class. Thanks
Also what does it cost in parts to do the Parktronic front and rear on 02 C32

the heat element is stitched into the cover so you can't just remove it.

Could it be that it's just the heated seat button that's bad? I'll try to unplug the heated seat botton and then test it for juice to see if anything is going through or just plug it into the passenger's one and see if it lights up. I still have extended warranty but it's a b**** with these warranty companies I just don't feel like going through the process. If it's a bad relay i'll just replace that but if it's the element I guess i'll go to the dealer. Also if they replace the bottom since I have two tone leather black/ blue will that be the same or will they just give me a black bottom seat? Or I might try to unstitch the element and stitch it back on if the dealer sells the elements indevidually.

Apparently they are completely integrated, and so can't really be unstitched. Better to leave them there and simply add heated pads if you want to keep the same cover.

Shouldn't be a problem getting the black/blue seat cover if you decide to get it done through your warranty.

Take a look here for some information on adding separate pads.

Hope this helps...

Same happened me - the bottom pads don't heat up on the driver or passenger sides. I'm getting mine done under warranty next week (thankyou starmark!). The SA said they were $850 each! Phew!
There has been some dude trying to sell C32 seats on e-bay for the last couple of months - I believe the price has been dropped significantly now (certainly less than the price of one heating pad!).

Thanks for the input Bobby Dazzler, I also came across this site
http://www.heatedseatkits.com/heatedseatkits/index.html

A buddy of mine had these installed and he said they work great, not on a Benz though. I'll see if I decide to do this on my own, I'll def. document and put pix on the forum for future references.

After having my car at the dealership for 2 weeks now, I finally get a call from my SA who tells me that they don't want to replace my heated pads because they are saying that my VIN doesn't match with the parts and he is trying to tell me that my C32 didn't have heated seats!! On top of that, I am now being accused of adding aftermarket seats to my car!!
This sounds like BS to me. I've tried to research what was standard on the '02 C32, but can't reach a consensus on the heated seats. Am I right in saying that it was pretty much standard on the '02? (a question to anyone out there who bought their C32 new).
Meanwhile, I'm driving a C230 loaner around that doesn't have enough power to drive out of a wet paper bag..........

I read before that heated seats were OPTIONAL on 2002 and 2003 C32

Not sure about 2004...
