My Kleemann vandalized

My Kleemann vandalized
So I wake up this morning, go outside to start the car (it's out side right now, because my garage is filled with building materials as I am finishing my walkout basement) ... Get in car and start it ... almost immediately it starts shimmering and making a loud grinding sound... i shut off immediately...
I get out and open the hood ... to find part of my intake disassembled and other cables / hoses tampered with ... i walk around and notice my gas cap dangling and gas door open...
I call the police and make a report then have roadside tow it to MB Plaza in St. Louis...
I am awaiting the call back to find out what happened ... but from what I heard the short time it was running it does not sound good.
I will keep you all posted….

I am SOOOOO sorry to hear that my friend.
My only thoughts are that someone was looking for something specific, as it would make NO sense from a common theif approach. They would have simply taken the whole car for sale or pieces.

That sucks. Just goes to show it can happen to anyone. Looks like you live in a nice area too. Might be time to get some cameras watching your car.

Sorry to hear about your C55... I've only experienced problems with my valve stem covers being stolen. I've gone through four sets of the fancy Mercedes-benz covers already. Has to be someone in my neighborhood. Strange how evidence points towards them trying to jack the kompressor, but your gas cap was open? Guess someone needed a new supercharger, and some fuel... Do you know if your tank was siphoned?

Must be someone you know how else would they know to go for the SC when the vehicle doesnt even come with one? Do you have Kleeman branding on your vehicle? You are right that is pretty bold ha doesnt it take like 15 hours to put it on anyways? It must not of been someone experienced or im guessing they would have taken it. Good luck hopefully nothing else is broken.

I agree it's a dumb move but scumbags like these will more likely just take the part at a local pawn shop and see how much they can get for it for a quick buck.

This is truely bad news and I hope they did not get far enough to cause any significant damage.
A very stupid move by any standard but, in my experience, criminal acts rise as the economy sinks. You really should be able to find this person, unless they know you or your car, how would they know about your Kleemann, what it's worth and another C55 owner to buy it? How many forum members live in or near STL?

Still no final word on total loss/damages from dealer. Once I pickup the car it is most likely going back to Cory in Kleemann to ensure of its proper working order. It just sickens me to no end the violation I feel because of it.
To respond to the questions whom would know about the Kleemann... I do travel and frequent a lot of local events, including midnight madness track stuff @ gateway international and a host of other local events.
Quite a few people know of my car around the area but a small handful know where I live. Only thing i can think of is someone following me home ...
Needless to say, I am installing camera's at my house tomorrow with a DVR unit....

Damn bro, thats terrible, I hope the POSs who did this are found and dealt with accordingly, people should admire and respect people's ride not go after it for parts or jealously...it's sad and what's mentioned about crime going up due to a bad economy is certainly right. I hope things get sorted out as I see a SC C55 as quite a rare setup. A C55 alone is rare to spot in my area as I've never seen one in my life, I see tons of M3s and even CLSs and what not and regular C Classes but no C55 or even C32. I hope for the best. Keep us posted...
