Is a Sprintbooster worth it?

I know it removes the throttle response delay, but is it truly worth the cost, or is it more of a personal preference? For example, does it actually make a different in 1/4 times in terms of reaction?

I like mine and think that it was well worth it. Especially, given the dreaded MB adjustable transmission.

it isn't worth it IMO. your car won't be faster. all it does is make your car feel faster....because say, where you pushed 1/4 throttle before, the 1/4 throttle with the sprint booster is now more than that, say...(i'm just throwing an number out there).... .3 ....so it just advances the throttle further. waste of money.

With the sluggish response of our cars, it is not a bad idea to get a Sprintbooster. I am very tempted to get one as I am sick of the veeery sluggish throttle response and lack of downshift at times. To whoever bought one, what is a good place to get one for cheap?

It's like pushing the sport button in an E46 M3.

I love mine. It doesn't make your car faster. But it sure makes it more fun to drive.

Exactly. I don't really care if it makes it faster or not. I'm on my second one (first gray/black one died, like many others of the old version). Plus, I like the new ones with the ability to change the setting - nice add'l feature.

How do you know if it's dead. I installed mine yrs ago and haven't even looked underneath since. I don't even know if it's working.

it just sharpens initial throttle input, that is it.

You would know. My throttle response actually died several times on me, of course, as I was headed to the beach for the day.

It's an easy install. Take it back out and see if you notice a difference.

if your gonna do the 1/4 just do the ecu reset. When you do the reset it sharpens the throttle response to when the first day you got the car. But i agree, its a waste of money.

I am just wondering. Isn't there CS button on the shifter? I have an automatic and there is a button for that? Or is this a little better than making it Sports mode instead of Cruise mode.

Personally, I LOVE the throttle response the SB gives me. I think it's not good for drag racing as it makes you burn out even sooner and is harder to modulate the throttle. But when I'm on the highway and passing, etc, it just kicks down so fast.

I was having problems with my TPS before and took it out for a while and it was driving me crazy cause the response was so slow.

I hope im missing out. I'll take a look at this varible version.
Just looked at one occasion someone tearing up there tranny and haven't looked back. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of anything else negative.
A jumpy throttle pedal sounds fun!

I agree with AMGMIZ - his comments sealed the deal for me.

Just installed mine and I could "not" be more pleased. The car is finally the way it should have been out of the factory. I like the 2nd generation sprint booster as you can switch back and forth between the three modes. Makes it real easy to see/feel the difference between stock, green and red.

The red mode is not crazy or too twitchy either.

Install was little trickier than I expected. Once removing the nut behind the pedal, it was not as easy to remove the pedal as I expected. I ended up consulting the forums to find out you have to pull the accelerator down out of the underside of the dash. I removed the underside dash cover (three torx screws), but I'm not sure I had to. I did not want to break anything and since I could not see what was holding the pedal under the dash I thought better safe than sorry. Once i realized I had to pull and wiggle the pedal out of the underside of the dash everything was OK.

Did take some effort to reinstall. Had to push and wiggle to get the top of the pedal all the way back up to where it needs to be in the underside of the dash.

After having done it once I would say I could do it again in 10 minutes. First time through for me was more like a half hour.

Just get it and you'll be smiling every time you drive. Btw, I have no idea how MB can let their AMG cars have this stupid throttle lag leave their factory. It's soooo un-AMG like. Does anyone know if the current C63 suffers from the same problem?

Is there any difference in mpg (+ or -) after installation?

The product does not affect engine performance, fuel mapping, adaptation, or any other functions that would directly affect fuel economy. Indirectly, the improved throttle response may cause you to drive a bit more, um, aggressively... So, mileage may vary .
