Best way to LAUNCH? ESP/Sport/ESP OFF...

What is the best way to launch the C63? I either get way too much tire spin (esp off) or it goes into limp mode (esp on or sport on). Which mode do you race in?
Has anyone started the launch w/ either "esp on" or "sport on" & then turned "esp off" after the launch and in the midst of racing?

ESP off and learn to modulate the throttle. Trying to switch ESP off in the middle of a race is both silly and dangerous.

Why would you use sport mode? I'm pretty sure shifts are faster in Manual mode...

The shifts are faster, but S mode is more consistent at shifting up every time at redline while you have to anticipate it with the paddle shifters in M mode. If you calculate the rate at which the tachometer needle is rising and the time required for the car to actually shift gears from the moment you click the paddle, then you will be faster than in M mode.

From what I hear, the best method is ESP-Off, and transmission in Sport, tap the downshift paddle one time to bring up another shifting option which only shifts at redline. Ease into the throttle.

the easiest way is just ESP-sport + S mode + floor it = best time + less tire burning

you'll get the best timing

cuz sometimes when in M mode u rather shift up a little faster or slower

and in a race u DONT NEED THAT so ... this way is 100% the best and the easiest

Sounds like a good excuse to head to the strip and try each combo and report results back.

Only a 105 trap? Shouldn't our cars be trapping around 115?

I'm excited to hit the track with the C63 this spring - I'm coming from an AWD Jeep SRT8 that had similar HP numbers (and ran a 13.49 1/4) - but was pretty much "drag racing for dummies". Basically, it went something like:
1. Autostick on
2. Wait for second light
3. Stomp it

Looking forward to a little actual skill involvement - but I'm scared my times will be a disappointment. Our track is at 2200'! That, plus the learning curve, is a recipe for a frustrating (but fun) first track day. I guess the only advantage we have here in Northern Alberta is that our air temperatures when the track opens tend to be nice and cold...

Bump to find out if my way will yield me the best time on my PSS street tire...

ESP sport mode

Trans in S+ mode

Launch at 2200rpm and feather until 2nd then floor it

Sound like a winning formula? Also what psi should my tires be at?

I went out to open roads when I fitted the 295 PS2's.

I tried:

ESP off - Sports mode & Comfort mode
ESP on - Sports mode & Comfort mode
ES Sports - Sports mode & Comfort mode

The best times I clocked from launch repeatedly was with

Sports ESP and Sports mode and just slam the pedal from the lights.
