Low coolant warning on 2012
First got this last year during the winter. Happened during cold starts. Was told its no big issue so I got it topped it up about 6 months ago.
Now, I get a low coolant warning again when cold starting. Should I just top it off again or check for some problems? Did a search but didnt yield many results.

Is your car leaking coolant?
Secondly, I would check my oil to make sure your oil and coolant aren’t mixing. If so, get your head gasket replaced before you blow your motor. Just my $0.02.

I dont notice any leaks on floor of place I park. How can I check for potential oil/coolant mixing?

Relax. Your car is fine. You don’t have a head bolt or HG problem. Your car isn’t blowing up either. Coolant levels expand and contract with temps in the overflow tank, and over time you get evaporation etc. Totally normal, I have a light right now too because my car has been sitting in a cold garage for months. You’re probably just slightly low. Throw some distilled water in the overflow reservoir to top it off. It has been discussed before.

Toronto - make that a top off with coolant or Diesel WaterWetter.
No symptoms, no codes, car running fine? Then it’s just the overflow tank evaporation / contraction.
If you see plumes of white smoke or milky tan-colored oil, or your car is misfiring and down on power that’s when you worry. You don’t have that.

But I wouldn’t know, I live in Florida where I’ve never encountered such an issue with my car, but it’s normal as BLKROKT said. As long as it’s not happening frequently (ie: every week)
