Glad to hear they bite even when cold... most race pads I've used do not work at all until you put some heat into them, and yeah, they all squeal like stuck pigs until you get them hot. Even some of the "sport street / track day" pads do it - I had a set of Hawk HP Plus pads that made me want to hide in shame every time I approached a traffic light.

Yup... especially when they see the partially burnt clearcoat on the front wheel spokes.

I remember pulling up to the Mosport sign-in gate one morning and the guy that arrived 30 seconds later saying "I was behind you on the 401 and knew exactly where you were going from the moment I heard your brakes when we got off the highway in Bowmanville". That was when I had the Hawks on the car... no sneaking up home late at night without the entire neighbourhood knowing I was coming. I think I removed them way before they were done out of consideration for the neighbours.

Sorry for the thread hijack everyone.

had this same problem with the endless MX72’s I had years ago. Was super embarrassed with the squeals at stop lights. Even though they were a “street” pad damn were they loud. Swapped em out for OE compounds just a couple months after I installed them.

Group buy didn’t pan out because epytec refuses to ship to North America.

however I made a friend locally with a fancy new Cnc machine and 3D scanner. Will see if they can be replicated for a reasonable cost.

I'm surprised by that. I ran a couple sets of MX72s on one of my last cars and they were always silent. I would only get any squealing after some fast drives where they were up close to track temps for long enough to get good transfer and the following couple of days would have a light squeal when cold.

I was planning to use them as my next set for this car, but maybe will just stick to OEM...

I am too. I am near the end of the pad life on my second set of MX72s, and I just ordered two more sets. Never heard them squeal on anything from heavy track use (that completely destroyed the OEM pads in just two sessions) to street driving in the winter.

shouldnt need it scanned man, it’s on the net, here are some specs to get things started. PS some people don’t know units it’s definitely not 7.5 feet long. You will need to determine center spacing by looking at your own calipers because it’s not in the images below. XF Motorsports should be able to mill these out with their setup no prob

So did Mercedes use a bracket just like this to on the Black series to accommodate the rotors or are the knuckles different?

390 is black series. If you’re talking carbon ceramic comp then they are I believe 405mm. You can go with carbon ceramic comp rotors on the front with a “simple” bracket mod like this thread has gone about you’d just need to bump out the bracket to accept larger rotors and get the proper burnt gold calipers. To fit the rear carbon ceramic set up you need the w212 wheel carriers IIRC.

But I would say the rears needs some investigating as there’s always more than one way to skin a cat as they say.

Ok makes sense. So, forgetting carbon brakes for a minute, a C63 has 360s, and the Black got 390s up front I'm wondering what Mercedes did to accommodate the different size. Same calipers, I guess same knuckle, so did they use a part similar to this bracket to relocate the calipers on the Black? Has anyone tried to source them or are the preposterously expensive?
