where did you get the non sunroof panel from? Wrecked car or ordered one from Mercedes?

May be more information in there if you dig around a bit.
Thanks, Wow just over 10kg more than I thought, good saving from high up on the car.

Bought it new from Mercedes and bought the headlinier too so everything looks OEM.

I didn't have the pano. The regular sunroof is about 35lbs.

Test fit the passenger RECARO seat today - fits like a glove. I can confirm, W204, W211 and W212 all use the same seat mounting brackets.

Also weighed the factory E63 seat and it came in at 70 lbs. Swapping both seats should net around a total of 70lbs~ weight reduction.

Quick teaser pic.

Looks great, did you use Recaro seat frames or the planted ones? Will you code the errors out or use resistors? Also does the steering column not move now? (As I know it works with the seat)

Those look great. Where did your source the Recaros and the type?
Perhaps it would be worth doing a seperate thread for future reference purposes, if you have the time

Planted mounts with Recaro seat frames and sliders. I'm gonna try to code out the airbag codes with Xentry first, if that doesn't work I'll use resistors. For the steering column I believe there's a small module in the factory driver's seat that I can transfer over to the Recaro mounts to retain adjustability of the steering column.

I ordered everything from @Highline-Autos.com, he's an authorized Recaro vendor and will give you a solid deal.

I'll take some good photos once everything's installed and put together a thread for future reference.

Do you have much experience with Xentry? It would be awesome if there's a way to code out full modules. Like the SRS module which I no longer have lol.

Not really, I'm just using Xentry Openport 2.0. It usually points out where the faults are coming from and you can navigate through the menus to disable them.

For more advanced coding you'll probably need the full kit which runs over $1K.

Apologies for not knowing, but when you 'code out the airbag codes', does that mean that with these seats your airbags will not deploy in an accident?

Just out for a night time drive. (6.5.25)

Nothing crazy. Finally got around to washing and vacuuming it, and then going for a nice night drive on a perfect night.

I was able to successfully code out all of the factory seat SRS systems with Mercedes DAS software and open port 2.0 without any need for resistors.

The airbags will deploy as normal, we're just turning off unused features like passenger weight sensors, side seat airbags, and headrest restraint systems.

Great news, next mod for mine is carbon pole positions and I contacted a company a while back who said they do the same to fit the seats then turn off everything thats showing an error.

What did you do in the end to make the steering column still adjustable as you need the seat? Did you just keep the seat module on only plug parts of it going to the column in?

I haven't gotten to the steering column yet but I'm sure it's just the module I have to transfer over and leave it plugged in.

Wanted to tackle the SRS coding first since that's the most trickiest part on these cars. I learned USA spec cars don't really work well with resistors since they use a more complicated 4-pin wire setup, so coding through DAS is the best and cleanest option.

Here's a list of coding options I had to turn off for my E63, definitely find a shop that knows what they're doing.
  • Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor (WSS)
  • Passenger OCM
  • RoE Existing
  • PAD-Lamp ON at Weight Class 0
  • PAD Switch
  • DAD Switch
  • Thorax Sidebag Passenger Seat
  • Thorax Driver Passenger Seat
  • Passenger Pelvis Airbag
  • Driver Pelvis Airbag
  • Passenger Pelvis Squib Passenger
  • CAH NECK-PRO Headrest (Passenger)
  • CAH NECK-PRO Headrest (Driver)

Let me know how you get on with the column, thanks for the other info will help loads when I get round to them. I have seen some people swap over or buy the smaller seat occupancy pad so it stays in use but I know how hard the seats are to take apart on the c63 😄

Got the driver’s seat installed today. Just waiting on a few bolts to finish securing the seatbelts, and it should be good to go.

I confirmed that the adjustable steering column module is located beneath the factory driver's seat. I removed it and secured it to the carpet with Velcro, and it works as it should.

Seats look great & thanks for letting me know. The only difference will be the seat rails/mounts as I found Recaro makes a straight bolt in so no need for the Planted mounts.

the seats sit a lot lower than the factory seats even with the planted mounts, if you're under 6ft it might be an issue with visibility with no planted mounts.

After 12 years owning the car since new and the car being highly modified I finally decided to get headers 😄 I went for MBH RHD headers which are currently getting ceramic heat treatment.

I have been considering those for my car as well. What is your impression of the build quality?

I mean look at the previous pictures, I think the quality speaks for itself, they were definitely worth the wait to be manufactured. Unfortunately they don’t look as good now they have been properly ceramic heat treated but it reduces engine bay temps by 30%, if you could see them when fitted it would be ashame as they look like a piece of art. 😄

Well I guess a 30% decrease in temperatures is worth it compared to shiny components one doesn't really see, except when looking for or on a "show" car

Yes which is why I did it, properly done using zirconia not like the cerakote which basically doing nothing for heat.

how much did it cost to do this? Is just the outside treated?

I've been told to cerakote my new headers inside and out but you mentioned ceramic heat treating is better?
