It's completely different. Took me a bit to relearn how it behaves.
Slower tight corners it still has more understeer than I'd like with 275s up front but I'm working on more front downforce and a balance change.

It loves long sweepers. Having 400+ lbs rear downforce at 200kph helps though.

A 7-800 lbs loss is like having stage a 1 SC. I have been asked which blower I have a few times
After the seats where were the biggest weight losses?, I will be changing the seats in mine, loosing the rear seats and deleting the sunroof with an oem non sunroof panel and I can save between 80-100kg with that. Id like more weight out but I want to keep the carpets and door panels. Already saved 22kg with wheels, brakes & suspension so no more to be saved there.

I didn't weigh individual parts. Things that stood out was the ac compressor, sunroof, door glass and the dash. All the little modules that control things add up quick too.

The carpet had some heft to it.

So did you have the roof reskinned with steel or aluminum then? I'd be interested in doing that way before any other weight savings since it's hot in the Summer and noisy all damn year.

I used 1/4" polycarbonate to fill the gap. Rubber window moulding with 3M window adhesive to secure it.

First pass at choppy choppy. Have since cleaned up the 2 ends after removing the spring to cycle the suspension and trim for clearance.

Not winning any style points but it should be functional with a 295 back there.

Finally got my Recaro Pole Position seats after 7 months wait caused by their bankruptcy, they started production again a few months ago but have a huge backlog of orders. Hopefully I can install them over the weekend.

Any idea on weight savings with those?

Looking good! The delay was brutal, but wouldn't believe the number of orders we've had to turn down since, so better late than never!

The wait time sucked for sure, hopefully they get caught up soon.

Recaro seats with mounting brackets around 35lbs each, my stock E63 seats are probably over 70lbs each so it should be a nice chunk of weight savings.

Could you share some more info on this? Did you cut the polycarbonate yourself? How's it holing up now that a little time has passed? All you did was remove the glass, wiring and motor? This seems like a more tangible option than getting a cf roof fabricated or swapping the roof from a no sunroof optioned w204

Sunroof Steps:
  • Remove complete sunroof.
  • Tape template material onto the roof to trace the opening from inside the car (I used thick underlay paper)
  • Draw a cut line on the inside of the trace minus the thickness of whatever molding you use with some wiggle room to create a template.
  • Use the template to cut out the polycarbonate panel. (I used a Jig Saw with a fine tooth blade for plastic)
  • Tape the window molding to the poly panel so you can do a dry fit first.
  • Glue the molding to the poly panel.
  • Glue the assembly into opening (just like you would with a windshield. I used 3M window adhesive)
  • I had to use weights on all 4 corners because of the roof contour and left it on for a day or so. (Whatever the cure time was on the adhesive)

It was relatively simple, just time consuming. Has been in the car since 2021 without issue.

Did you happen to weigh the sunroof when removed? Ive got a brand new standard w204 non sunroof full panel to fit at some point. It would be nice to know how much weight I will be saving before I get round to it in the distant future. I guessed about 22kg with the glass & frame.

The weight of the sunroof is 75 lbs. according to post #67 in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-thread-3.html

May be more information in there if you dig around a bit.
