I received my 2019 about 2 weeks ago so still in the process of running it in. Couple of times I did switch to Sports+/Race mode just to test out the exhaust.

Glad to say at least with Australian spec, I am getting up-shift pops (short shifting between 2500-3000rpm) and I was also getting downshift pops and crackles. Downshift crackles were not happening on demand however it was sufficient considering I was just babying the car. So my guess is that things should get better once the car has been run in.

Also another thing I noticed it appears 2019s are better insulated compared to pre-FL (compared against 2016 sedan) so the exhaust tends to sound quieter inside the cabin. I did couple of drive-bys with other AMG owners (standing on the road) and they said the car sounded loud as f*** (exhaust tone and pops/crackles).

Exhaust developed a loud rattle both at the H-pipe and valves. Unrelated to the bodywork - I banged up my splitter on a road dip

Can you dissect it and determine where the particulate filter is? And then remove it?

Only possible place, if there is one, would be the valve chamber right before the tips

Rest of the exhaust looks effectively a straight pipe

As far as I have heard, the secondary cat is the GPF.

I just had secondary cats removed on my 2019 with PE.

I'm guessing if the particle filter was in the secondary cats I would've gotten a CEL right?

no idea, but does your car sound different after removing it? Or did you already do something else to it (i.e. tune, etc.)?

All I have if an ASR module and the secondary cat delete. Besides that my car is completely stock.

I really can't put into words how much better it sounds from the day I got it from the dealer. If it sounded like this day 1 stock, I would've never touched the exhaust or done any mods.

However, I'm skeptical to believe the particle filter is in the secondary cats because I think it still sounds a bit quieter than the press cars. I'd say I'm about 90% of the way there but there is still something holding it back. Also, I seriously doubt removing the particle filter would give no CEL.

Remind me what an ASR module is again?

So, it sounds like are the first documented owner to have removed secondary cats and have a report back. Would you be able to do a rev video or something so we could compare the sound? I'm curious...

I am not car-technical enough to say for sure, but logic does seem point to there being a CEL if the PF was removed...that said, to throw some more complexity out there...haha. what if the PF is in the secondary cats by default, but is not "enabled" or the car is not aware of them in the US models...?

Also, are you not able to just look inside the secondary cats? Or have they already been disposed of?

My understanding is that there need to be flow sensors before and after the GPF to detect if the filter is full and requires a burn cycle. The GPF is based on the principals of the DPF. It's basically a honeycomb mesh that traps the particles and then uses exhaust heat to burn them off periodically. If the car is driven hard enough, they burn off naturally, but if the car is driven more sedate, then the ECU will burn more fuel etc. to raise the exhaust temperature so they burn off. Diesel cars often have a dash light that turns on when the filter goes through a burn off cycle and also if it can't burn it off on its own, then a service visit is required to initiate a special cycle. The GPF is a little different than the DPF, but in essence it's the same idea. Particles get trapped and they have to burn off otherwise the filter eventually gets clogged.

The ASR module just allows you to have the valves opened completely 100% of the time. Whereas they normally only open all the way under heavy load. I'm also not a car technical person but that's how I understands it works.

When I look in the cats I just see the normal mesh material.

Will post a video and images of the cats soon.

New replacement exhaust has been installed

Smelling an acrid metal burning smell coming from the rear... maybe just the exhaust breaking in...

Did you install the ASR module yourself? Been thinking of doing this too. Please do share which vendor you bought from!

I installed it myself. VERY easy install.

I bought it from this company: https://translate.googleusercontent....wyycl1ePjwi6tw

The page is in german so thats the google translated version. I linked the facelift 2019+ version.

To have it shipped to the US, you’ll need to email info@asr-component.de.

I can’t speak for other companies’ versions, but this one has been great.

Did you install the module before or after the CAT delete?

How much difference do you honestly think the module made? 15-20% increase in loudness or more?

Did it also affect the loudness of your pops/crackles?

Will be posting one tomorrow! Sorry I’ve been out of town.

I’ve had the module for a couple months now and just got the cat delete last week.

The module made the car maybe 10-15% louder? Its difficult to say, because when you’re at high rpms, it already makes noise stock, thats because at that point the flaps are 100% open. But at standstill and low speeds/rpms, the module made a big difference because it keep the flaps open completely when they wouldn’t be if stock.

the cat delete just made the sound so much more clear and also another 15-20% louder or so. It makes the exhaust crackle and pop much more often and at much lower speeds. Its finally starting to feel like nothings really holding the exhaust back. i think the other day i got pops at around 3k rpm or so which was really surprising.

Sorry it took so long to get a video, but here it is as promised.

My car is completely stock in terms of performance. All I've done is installed the ASR valve control module and had a secondary cat delete.

Here is a link to the module: ASR Module for 2019+ C63 & C63S. If you live in the US emailinfo@asr-component.de, it ships from germany but should arrive within a week.

The sound you hear before startup is the valves opening. If you, like me, like to turn the car on and switch into your favorite drive mode before starting the car, the ASR module will by default open the valves 100% at that time.

I highly recommend both mods!

In the video I do the emotion start in race mode. Sorry I couldn't do some more revs for a longer video, after the first pop I decided to stop so I wouldn't disturb the neighbors too much.

Here are pictures of both sides of both secondary cats, I don't think the particle filter is in there.

Looks like we've been had then? There's no other possible place for an GPF based on the full exhaust photos earlier in this thread.

If our cars do have them, then they have to be before the secondary cats.

Maybe I'm biased at this point but it still doesn't sound like the 2018s and prior to me. There has to be something somewhere quieting down the exhaust.

Sounds good! Did the ASR and the secondary cat delete set off any warning lights?
