Well this is both good & bad news at the same time.
The CLE63 is going to be a V8 is good, arriving 3 or 4 years from now is bad.
As well as the time frame and wait it means when it's released it'll pretty much be a whole generation behind it's direct competition...
AFAIK AMG has pre-produced a large number of the M139L engines so maybe good news for 43 models running the I4 if these are re-directed towards them in their mid life update.

Forgot to mention there does not appear to be a rectangular cut line in the camo on the right side of that rear bumper, looking like hopefully the powertrain has been changed and no P3 Phev system at least.

I think your completely missing the point if you think it's overkill or about bragging rights, IMHO in relation to the new AMG CLE coupe I cannot relate to those 2 aspects at all.

Without getting into the obvious rhetorical for any MB/AMG enthusiast, who would not want an AMG with a V8.
I think your completely missing the point if you think it's overkill or about bragging rights, IMHO in relation to the new AMG CLE coupe I cannot relate to those 2 aspects at all.

I don't. I'm ordering a CLE53. If I wanted an AMG with a V8, I would have ordered a GT55 and would get it sooner. I have driven a GT63 and the V8 felt unnecessary to achieve the type of performance driving that I enjoy. I am really happy that Mercedes is offering performance capability, not just cosmetic changes, across more variants. If Mercedes offered a GT53, I think that would be an awesome car for me, primarily because it adds a hatchback. The CLE53 presents itself to me as a car where the handing, braking, and engine performance are more balanced than many AMG models.

My comments were really a huge compliment to the performance I personally experienced driving the CLE53AMG and felt no desire for more, and I’ve had plenty of HP V8’s in my day including AMG. The AMG set up in the 53 is plenty sweet.

You put forward your opinions/reasons for choosing the CLE53 and that's completely totally OK but then end by stating that most who choose a CLE 63 (if it comes with a V8) it will be overkill or just to brag about it. which is totally completely not true.
If I get one I certainly won't be bragging about anything...and it's certainly not overkill, that's just another personal opinion.
I have not seen any threads where people have chosen a CLE200-450 and then say oh most who get the CLE 53 is overkill and for bragging rights, what total nonsense !
Enjoy your purchase decision of a CLE53 for all of your own reasons and respect other peoples choice for all of their own reasons, simple.

Thanks for posting this - it also helps those of us that ordered 53's with these wheels. I did AG with the black ones, anywhere to find the AG with the silver wheels/version? Would like to see how that looks whilst I still have time to change.
